Well, here's my sob story:
I just received the pieces to hook my computer up to my HDTV (Sony 34XS955) via HDMI and gave it a whirl....
Everything looked pretty good. I saw my extended desktop (with severe undescan) and ran some PBS HD cable stream via VLC from my HDHomeRun tuner (yummy!). Looking awesome!
I ran into some weird looking screens in CCC. Firstly, in the Display Manager, the displays were swapped (meaning monitor #2-my HDTV, was shown first). No problem. Rearranged them and considered "Test Over". Time to play some Far Cry since I had worked on getting it tweaked this past week.
Loaded the game, got the splash screen then *click*, my monitor's display (Sony GDM-FW900) quits. I figure it's a hang/lock-up, but on a feeling I go back to my HDTV and switch to the HDMI Input and I see the garbled mess that (I'm assuming) should be Far Cry.
O.K., now I just remove the DVI cable from the computer so it will only use my monitor. Reboot, see my desktop, load the game....*click*. DAMN! Reboot, load ATITrayTools (to a silly overclock) and load the game. *Whew* Game loads, I get a few minutes in....*POOF*. No problem, this smells like my normal overcooked setting reboot. I'll just try CCC again. Load game, see splash....*click*. FARG! Try ATTools and all is good.
Went to my "Display" settings in the Control Panel and make sure my Primary display is active and Secondary was not.
Kind of freaked out, I am now asking:
What am I doing wrong?
How are others using both DVI outputs?
Is it possible to set this up for gaming on the monitor and video (and possibly gaming) on the HDTV?
How do I get rid of the underscan?
Should I use Extended Desktop or Clone Mode?
Thanks in advance for listening to this poor schlub!
Cheers.
Bryan
