Lost Planet dx10 has been much maligned in my reading for showing poor performance. It seems, however, that on my system, upon booting it up in DX10 mode, it runs just fine. I can't tell much of a difference between the two (dx9 vs dx10), but there's little performance decrease.
Am I missing something? Or was it just the demo that was so bad?

Runs fine for me. Maybe it's resolution related? If you have a DX10 card, you've pretty much got a screamin' card anyway.

It was very slow with the demo. I was reading the Lost Planet forums and everyone's saying that the full version is so much better than the demo. Capcom also states that it will be making more improvements to the DX10 part of the game.

"For you full DX10 version runners (again, that's a real DX10 card + Vista, not one or the other), we have some suprises in store for you though... so don't get too comfortable thinking you know everything there is about LP on your rig yet. .

More info will be forthcoming in a couple weeks. "

If Capcom does actually release some extra visual features/optimizations for us DX10 users then that'll move them up a notch in my book. :)

Playing retail right now and Its very fast inside the buildings/caves, and crawls at 20fps or below in snow.

Shame.

Bring it..Thats what I built this rig for..:D

runs fine here in dx10

e6700, 2gig ram, 8800gtx 1920x1080p 4xAF

fps stays in the 30's

158.45 vista 32bit drivers

I have a PC with QX6700 and 2x8800GTX. It runs great for me in DX10 with the 162.15 drivers in Vista much better than the demo ever did before.

I am running at 1920x1200 with 16xAF/4xAA with all settings maxed except shadow quality at medium - that enables soft shadows which is a frame rate killer. My FPS is usually in the 50s but I have seen some drops into the low 30s, especially when the boss spins around the dome in the first hive.

So 162.15 works with the full version? I get a blank screen with the demo using 162.15. I have not try it with the full version yet.

Thats coo, might have to grab me a copy of vista...

1680x1050
Core 2 Duo e6400@3ghz (sometimes usually 3.4ghz)
eVGA 8800gtx at 620/970 with Rivatuner
Vista 32bit
162.15 drivers
All settings high except shadows (low or medium usually, as there isn't that big a difference)
Vsync off

averages around 60fps a lot of times, goes to 40 in heavy scenes, and can even go lower, but the motion blur is great. :)
