sorry if this is kinda off topic but im a bit pissed right now, i just lost an all out battle on ebay for this $350 intel raid card

http://www.intel.com/design/servers/RAID/SRCS16/
http://www.directron.com/srcs16.html

last night with about 10 hours left i saw it for about $50 so i started bidding throughout the night i was locked in a battle with 2-3 other bidders and then thismorning with about 3 minutes left i thought i had it but then bam the bidding started, then i had it again with like 20 seconds ledft so i kept refreshing then with 8 seconds left someone outbid me to i scrambled to get it but could not get it in time,

so some lucky fucker got it for like $140

is that a good card anyways? i figured out it was 64 bit PCI after i actually started bidding but then decided if i got a cheap server or dual board with a 64bit pci slot i could build a badass file server.

The SRCS16's a good card. It's actually an LSI 150-6 and vice versa - absolutely identical except for branding. Which also means not a $350 card; ZZF has it as the 150-6 for "only" $287. So yeah, $140's still a killer price.

FWIW, and not like you asked, but- I've been very happy with my Highpoint 2220. SATA II, 8 ports... running 8x320GB SATA II WD drives, 2.1TB formatted as RAID5. Very nice for $250 at ZZF. :)

I will never understand why people just don't bid at the last second...period....saves everyone bidding money

i agree witht he sniper programs. bigging is useless. u set your max and the sniper program goes to bat for u at the last like second or two and boom u win or not.

ebays bidding is a farce designed to get you to spend more then u need

and if u were bidding and someone else was using the snipe programs. your bidding was futile lol
