Losing boot drive.

I'm having an issue with my boot drive that I think is a mobo issue. I went to put a movie on for my son (iTunes -> Apple TV), and my PC didn't show up. I assumed someone closed iTunes. I went down and it was asking me to insert a boot media (forget exactly it was late). I tried a few reboots, nothing. Went into the bios and my M4 was not listed. I set bios to factory defaults, rebooted, entered bios and it was showing up in boot priority. Rebooted, everything seemed normal. Fired up iTunes, and put the movie on. Chalked it up to bad OC issue (was oc to 4.6 for the last 6 months, stable).

Got up this morning and it's in asking for boot media again. Tried reboot, no dice. I didn't have time this morning to mess with it, as I'm on my way to work. Seems to me this may be a sata controller issue. Though it could be my M4. Anyone ran across similar issue?

I'd assume swapping from onboard sata3 to Marvell, or onboard sata II should give me indication. Though how do I test that? Benchmark the hard drive on the new port? Because if it works doesn't really mean its the port and not the HDD, mobo, or CPU.

Update the firmware on your Crucial M4 if you haven't done so already.

Also, just use the PC as is if you do switch the connection to the other SATA 3.0Gb/s ports or Marvel SATA 6.0Gb/s. If you're still seeing the issue, could be a mobo or SSD issue and not a port issue.
 
^this. I have three machines that I built last year, all have M4 as system drives, all gave the same error message that you experienced, and all were 'cured' by updating the firmware.
