Hi.. I am loosing textures when I pllay online with battlefield 1942 both lan and over the internet. Do you have any idea what the possible cause could be? I have ran 3dmark and it doesnt loose textures.
I am out of ideas of why this is occuring. What it looks like is the screen will loose either chunks or all of the textures including, the floor so I can see random flying things including other characters or tanks. Other times the whole screen could turn to the sandy p eachy color of the screen. In other words it looks like artifacts to the next level.

It appears like the card is overheating but I am not overclocking and my fan seems to be working correctly.

Solutions I have tried.. reinstalling battlefield... replacing video card drivers with both old and new replacing the nforce2 chipset drivers with new and older drivers.. reinstall dx9b.. and yelling at the computer. Still get this weird problem. I generally dont play other games as much as bf1942 so I think heat may be a possibility.

AMD 2600+ barton 512 mb ddr pc3200
DFI nforce2 400-AL

Thank you

EDIT: added a picture (I mean screen shot)

Looks like a driver issue to me ( with your video card ) and not a hardware problem, I'm sorry but i can't help you since i don't have BF 1942 ( if did i would play it on my 9700 and not on my TI4200).

It may well be fixed in the next forceware release.

So you dont think its an heat issue? Hrmm.. Does anyone know if BF1942 puts a heavy load on the card?

Hmm I've seen a thread like this on another forum and it was a driver issue. How long have you been running bf1942 til you got to that problem? You said you tried different drivers, so I don't know. You could try to adjust the settings or something. Lower AA and AF or something, that could help.

thats wierd, I had the same problem in BF1942... but all I had to do was re-install it and it worked fine.

Accept on mine I had no texture at all, they were just like raw white design stage looking environment/people

umm I took that with the print screen button..
my aa/af are off or application controled I dropped the resolution from 1026x768 to 800x600 and the overall game quality settings are in the middle.
I am unsure how long it takes sometimes it starts happening quite quickly

Im hoping its a driver issue especially since my computer bsoded with many of the other drivers when I started battlefield...

It makes me want to get an ati... :p [cant afford it right now, killed compaq had to buy new mobo, case, and cpu bad for 9800pro budget]

Update your video card drivers to the 53.03 drivers. I'm guessing you are playing DesertCombat, not regular bf1942? I believe this bug didn't exist in plain bf1942, just desertcombat.

I wouldn't recommend installing the 56.56 drivers just yet, as I've noticed quit a bit of lighting issues (flickering) with bf1942 and those drivers.

If you look in the release notes of the 53.03 drivers, you can see the bug is fixed:
Windows XP: Rendering corruption in Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat.

o_O
Didnt see that.. I think the nforce2 chipset drivers probably put those in...
But a problem with many drivers I had tried was bf1942 would bsod or exit instead.

yes desert combat

is there a game setting that controls the point of view? (console accesable) that some mod or glitch might have changed?

my guess is to find a list of console commands and look for one that deals with a clipping value.

im almost certain it is the game.
