Loop setup, or maybe not enough raditor cooling?

Ok I just put my GTX 480 underwater, temps are great, idle as of know with system just powered on around 38c and did a furmark test and hit 52c on load. I used to just have my i7 920, overclocked to 4.2Ghz, only underwater in which I idled around mid 30s c and load around 72c with linux. I used to have just a 2x120mm raditor for the CPU and now I added a single 120 in the loop. Loop as of know goes pump>GPU>2x120mm rad>CPU>single 120 rad>pump. I figured this loop would had been ideal so everything stays gets hit by there rad for most heat dissapition but now CPU temps have jump alot... mid 40s idle and 79C load. It gets effected in games now hitting anywhere from mid 50s c to low 60c. My orginal idea was to pump>single 120 rad>CPU>2x120 rad>GPU>pump. I dont know if that loop would be best, I might try it. Or is it I do not have enough raditor to cool?
 
Your temps are fine and safe. Sure, you're getting air cooling temps on your CPU, but that's because you doubled the heat input into the loop with the GTX 480 while only adding half the radiator (the 120mm). If you want to lower temps I'd add a bigger radiator.

Also I would keep the 240mm radiator after the GTX 480 and before the CPU since you're looking for lower CPU temps.
 
You need more rad man. Your original temps sucked for watercooling. I used a triple for my 920 at 4ghz and didn't hit 60C. Now that you've added a 480 which dissipates more than the 920 would, your going to need more rad.

Actually I have a 360mm Stealth GTS Rad I'm selling for $40 shipped. Let me know. ;)
 
I going to end up getting a 3x120 and add koolance no spill quick disconects. I dont have case room for it so my entertainment center I will put it on the side becuase it will be in area not noticable and add 3 fans a found a newegg a pci slot controller that will do 3 fans. Just will need to mod a molex connection to run it longer out of the case to the fan controller. Ghetto mod, lol, but it will be clean and not noticable.

dont like this. i like my set up to go rad then gpu or cpu. i like my gpu and cpu to get the coolest water and that water is the one you get straight from the rad.

i would go pump>2x120>cpu>120>gpu>resy>pump


what rad you using? i had a mcr220 (push pull) on my i7 920 @ 4.0 ghz and the temps where better on that set up (antec 300) than my pa 120.3 (corsair 800D). 220 rads can hold down an i7
 
Why do you want lower temps? Is everything stable under load? If so, what's the problem? Are you trying to overclock?

Lower temps for lower temps sake is stupid IMHO

The only thing that matters in a loop setup is that you have the res right before the pumps. Other than that the order doesn't matter. The water is moving so fast, and changes temperature so slowly, that the difference in input and output water temperature on either side of the blocks, or either side of radiator, is very, very small. Like a fraction of a degree.

And if you're using a res that combines the pump, you don't even need to worry about that issue. I actually have my rad feeding the res/pump so that the water in the res has already been cooled by the time it is then pumped to the cpu. Overall though it is called a loop for a reason and the temps will equalize throughout.
 
My res and pump are combined, it is a koolance 450 with there adapter to combine the two together.
 
Looks like your case form factor really limits how much rad you can fit in there. The only thing I can think of would be to get more powerful high CFM fans to put on your rads. That will increase your performance and reduce temps further but at the cost of additional noise. Fan shrouds are another performance enhancement option if they will fit in the limited space you are working with.
