I have been looking at a lot of setups here in the forums over the past couple of days. I am a little curious because I have been thinking of cooling muliple items at the same time ie.. NB, Graphics, and CPU. Alot of the pics I have been seeing show loops running from CPU to Graphics so forth and so on. Wouldnt it just be running warm water from one block to another? I mean if the loop from the Rad runs into the cpu and then from the CPU immediately it runs into the graphics card, wouldnt the water be partially warmed up? I would think it would be a better setup with 2 seperate rads where after the water runs across the CPU it would shoot up to the second rad and back down across the graphics card. Thanks.
 
Unless your waterflow is ridiculously slow it doesn't really matter what order you put things in. Also, the order is a loop, not a set. See below;

People say you wanna put the radiator inbetween a cpu block and a gpu block so as you not have them in a row, but when you think about it, they will anyway:

Pump>cpu>rad>gpu

is the same as

gpu>pump>cpu>rad

so the cpu and gpu are actually still inline.


Only if your pump is very weak and you want, say, the cpu to get the coolest water would you ensure that the cpu block is the first item after the rad. But other than that, order doesn't matter much.

So yeah, don't worry about it. Be more focused on having as neat and simple tubing layout as possible rather than unneccessarily convoluting it.

pump>rad>cpu>rad>gpu

Not really the same. As you can see the gpu would go back through the pump and into the first rad again. I dont know. Maybe wouldnt make a huge difference but as I see the temps on my gpu are much hotter than my CPU i was just considering that I wouldnt want warmer water flowing acrossed it if it could be cooled once more before touching the gpu.

It is much cleaner to have less tubing. I guess ill just have to test it.
 
With 2 rads yeah you'd be better having one between each block. Rads work better getting the hottest water into them so having them in serial would reduce performance slightly.

That is theoretically, and while true, you wouldn't notice much difference if at all. Other factors such as fan speed on the rad are much more significant.
