I currently have a GTX 295 on dell 27" monitor (dell 2707wfp)1920x1200
I am waiting for my new nec 30" (pa301w-bk-sv)2650x1600
So I am looking for an upgrade to someting powerful and silent!

1. MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC x2

or

2.MSI R6970 Lightning Radeon HD

thanks

If holding out for next gen isn't an option and you want a real improvement go with 2x 6950.

Yeah the twin frozr III 6950s are a pretty good choice. Even though it has a custom PCB, it does include the dual BIOS switch which makes it easier to flash and unlock the extra shaders.

I would wait until next gen. If you had to kill the upgrade bug go no lower than the GTX 570 or ATI Equiv. Any lower performance and it wouldn't worth it IMO

You basically already have a GTX480/570 assuming the game supports SLI. I'd hold out for 28nm stuff if I was you.

agreed.

At this point, OP, I don't think that you'll be happy with any upgrade currently available aside from a dual GPU ATI or nVidia card. You're better off waiting it out IMO. I've had the same thought as you, upgrading from a 295, but upgrading at this point (from a performance standpoint) would be a waste of money
