I was thinking about upgrading my laptop. Here's the specs: P Mobile 735 @ 2.26GHz, 2Gb DDR2, Mobility Radeon X600 graphics, and 60Gb HDD. It still suits my needs pretty well but I was thinking about upgrading my cpu to a P Mobile 755 which would oc to a 2.6 GHz. I'm watching one on Ebay that has a BIN of $70. Was wondering if it would be worth it? Would it make any noticeable difference performance-wise?

The slower a processor is, the more benefit you'll see from each incremental boost in speed.

That being said, an increase of 340Mhz - even with a starting point of 2GHz - won't account for a whole lot of difference.

For $70, save your money. If it's really burning a hole in your pocket, you'd see more of a performance increase from adding another 2GB of RAM, or simply replacing the hard drive with something newer/faster/larger.

An old 60GB HDD? I am betting 4200rpm? For day to day you would see a much larger jump in speed with a faster and larger HDD. If its sata, they can be picked for around 80 bucks these days.

I think I might just do that. You know, my laptop really isn't all that bad. I mean, it's not top of the line, but it definitely takes care of my everyday needs. I think I'll direct my shopping needs to HDD's instead. :D Thanks again for all the help!
