Looking to setup a Massive Lan / gaming center / net cafe thing, suggestions?

The thing with going with a "T-1" to start off with..it's not easy to upgrade, there's no smooth upgrade path other than complete replacement with a new package.

On top of that...a measly meg 'n a half simply ain't gonna cut it.

To me it's more sense to go with a fractional package, a chunka OC-3 or DS3 or something. That way, you're not paying the full price of one of those...certainly don't need a full 144 megs or 45 megs. But starting off with a slice..a fractional...you can easily add more bandwidth as needed. Ramp up your package. All they do is turn up a dial on their end (sorta speak)...no re-running/replacing of cables/equipment.

guess i'll have to talk to my partners and tell them that their budget wont cut it. I used to be into this stuff a few years ago, this is what happens when you stop using hardforums for 2 years =P

You don't necessarilly have to tell them that the budget won't cut it, just scale back from the initial plan and build forward. Nobody starts out full grown.
