I'm looking to make a file server, alI I need this computer for is to store data. I want it to be reliable but also very bare. Im thinking probably atleast 500 gigs of space so I may need two or three hard drives. I have not built computers in a few years so I am pretty out of date with the new memory and technology. I do not need any fancy video, sound, speed, etc, just space to store files on. It must be reliable though because it is for my fathers business and he needs reliable storage. If anyone could give suggestions or help that would be great. a I would prefer it to be windows as I am most familiar with it. I don't need it on a network even it can just be a stand alone pc.

You didn't state what OS you wanted to use so I will suggest one: http://www.freenas.org/
FreeNAS is a free NAS (Network-Attached Storage) server.
