I realized that the actualy physical screen on my 19" crt is 17.5" (desktop corner to corner), so im looking to get a 17" lcd (19" would be nice, but the higher end ones are out of my price range), basically under $600 is good, $600-$650 is ok, $650+ probably not

basically i do a lot of desktop work (programming, web design), but i also watch movies and play some games (and teh games I play can be relatively fast paced, unreal tournament 2k4, far cry, the upcoming doom 3, but i do like to play the flight simulators, so quality is a plus).

Ive been looking at the Samsung 172x, and its real nice, fast, but ive read it doesnt display a true 24-bit color (due to a 6-bit something or other)., and i really want true bright colors, fast, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks.
 
I think the 710T is the best. I think the 172X is being phased out

I like my Sony SDM-HX73/B almost as much as I enjoy my FP2001 and 1801FP

You think I should return my 172x for the 710T? I'm pretty happy the 172x but if I can get better than I think I should.

of ya have the moneys end it back to Monitors direct, tell them to trade it for 710T

I got an E-machines 17 inch crt for 90 bucks brand new, for the money, ya cant beat it, great picture as well...

edit sorry I didnt see lcd opps :rolleyes:
 
I have a Viewsonic VP171b and this thing gets my vote. 16ms responce time =]

i game all the time with no problems.
 
looks like ordered the 710t, i was considering the viewsonic, but i got the 710 for $490 shipped :)

I love my viewsonic as well. I game all the time with no ghosting. THough the transition from CRT to LCD is noticiable in dark areas. Ahh well I still love it
