Hi,

for our new office building we are planning our network from scratch.

In our datacenter we will have 8 racks and we plan 2 top of row switches.
The requirements for one switch is :
- 4x 10Gb Fiber Uplinks to connect the floor switches
- 2x 10Gb for switch interconnection in the datacenter
- about 40 1Gb network ports

The requirements for the floors are:
- We will have four floors with a switch on each floor
- PoE is required on all floors
- We would like to have 2x 10Gb Fiber Uplinks to each floor
- We plan to start with the following port requirements:
- Floor 1: 40 ports
- Floor 2: 20 Ports
- Floor 3: 20 Ports
- Floor 4: 75 Ports

This numbers are estimates for the next 2 or 3 years.
We would like to have hardware which can easily extended.

Which switches would you recommend?

Thanks for help

We use 2 HP A5500 as a top of the rack switches in IRF mode then we use 10GB CX4 connetion to 5120 switch an rest of them use regular 1Gb fiber conection.
With 2 switches you have 4 slots for 10gb connection so 2 of them you could use for stacking and on 2 more you could put 2-port 10GbE SFP+ module to each slot so you would have 4 available 10gb fiber connections.
I also looked at Extreme Network switches - those also could be interesting.
Depends on how good price offer you'd get on those switches.
