Right now, I use Polk TSi200s for my PC speakers and want to add a sub. My budget is about $100. I only care about music. Any suggestions?

Amazon has the Polk PSW10 for $89.99. Would that be a good sub?

i realize the other person just posted about hating their polk sub... meh... I am actually using a polk PSW10 now w/ my Pioneer SA-710 amp and a pair of JBL L1 speakers..I use this only for music at my pc here...and I am very happy with the PSW10 in conjunction w/ the L1s ... now i guess it depends on what you want you ain't going to shake the neigbhors w/ the PSW10 but it perfect for my needs here.. well built and has held up good..i've had mine going on 4years or so now.

I'm not a fan of that sub, it's very underpowered, only has 50 watts RMS. $100 is not a lot, but there are better choices if you could spend a little more money.

If you could double your budget I'd say get this

I've not heard it but it probably isn't very good. If $100 is really all you can do... There's not a lot in there at that price range any better than the Polk, I'd look for used on craigslist.

The Dayton 1200 has, by far, the best ability in the $100 price range. As you say, used is a different story. Sometimes you can snag a hell of a deal.

Agreed. A Dayton 12" driver at that price is going to outperform anything with a 10" or 8". Smaller drivers are going to require beefier amplifiers to even come close to a larger driver, and you are not going to find that in this price range.
 
+1 for Dayton. They have good stuff at fantastic prices!

I love my Dayton Elite 10" sub!

Somehow I didn't see that link to the Dayton. Looks like a hell of a deal, the OP should definitely pull the trigger on that one.
 
I'll probably get the dayton. Are there any subs that are sealed instead of ported? I want hard hitting bass and do not care about deep lows.
 
No sealed sub will hit hard in the $100 range other than DIY. It takes more wattage and excursion to get the same output as a ported sub would have.

Dollar for dollar a ported sub is going to have more output than a sealed sub unless you start comparing DIY and ID to retail, etc..

Sealed subs, meanwhile, will generally go lower, but with less output. You got the two variants mixed up.

I'm not a fan of ported stuff, my speakers are ported I stuffed them with some rolled up socks... did the job
