Starting to do some prelimary research for a next build (could be Skylake or even later though).
Current case is a Fractal Define R3.
Size -
Max size would be the Fractal Define series. Preferably smaller, thinking about going matx or even itx.
Noise -
Needs to be a low noise oriented design as opposed to an open air tunnel type design. Preferably fitted with damping material (or have space to self fit damping material).
Positive Pressure with air filters -
Positive air pressure case. Prefer integrated removable filters, reason being is the attachable magnetics are workable but I prefer an all in one more stream lined look.
Design -
Lower key design like the Fractal Define series. Not an open air mesh type design.
External Drive Bays -
I don't use any 5.25inch bays. Either 1 bay (for the possibility of a fan controller or something) or a 3x5.25inch bay to fit one of those 120mm fan conversions. Or zero 5.25inch bays. Prefer hidden behind a door for this reason. Don't use a floppy either.
Internal Drive Bays -
Planned internal drives at the moment would be 1-2 2.5inch SSDs (or other form factor) and 1-2 3.5inch HDDs. Prefer a "solid" HDD bay with damping (eg. rubber o-ring damping mounts). Not really for noise but vibration reasons.
Internal Components -
I only ever will use one videocard. Also I prefer not to go with AIO/watercooling although will consider it for the CPU if necessary. May need an expansion slot for a sound card (would rule out itx) but I can work around this if needed.
Bonus -
If the case is designed as left side oriented as opposed to right side oriented (most common).
