Looking for recommendations

I've been debating upgrading my existing setup for a few weeks now, but just wanted to gather some more opinions to see if it is worth the investment.

Here is what I have currently:

Monitor: ASUS VE278Q 27" LED
Hard Drive: 2x80GB X25-M Intel SSDs in RAID0 + few storage drives
Video Card: GTX480
RAM: 6GB GSKILL Ripjaws (2000mhz iirc)
Audio: Xonar Essence STX
Mobo: R3E
CPU: i7 930 @ 3.8ghz
PSU: Corsair HX1000

Upgrades I've been debating:

GTX680, one of the IPS Catleaps to move up to 2560x1440, larger capacity / newer SSD, additional RAM.

A few questions:

1 - is bumping up my RAM from 6gb --> 12gb worth it? Should I just buy an additional 2x3 kit or get an entirely new one?

2 - Any recommendations on SSD? I've been eyeing a few of the 240gb drives, specifically the Intel 520 series.

Budget wise, I'm prepared to spend up to $1500 if the upgrades warrant it, but obviously lower is better.

I'd say gaming is roughly 60%, and work/other is 40%. Any recommendations/advice appreciated!

I don't think you'd see any benefit in gaming by upping your ram. The video card would be your biggest upgrade. If you can find a 680, go for it. SSD prices have been very good recently. 256GB for around $200 - Crucial M4, Samsung 830, Intel are all reliable.

I'm on the fence with the Catleaps/Shimian monitors. I guess if you wanted one monitor it would be worth the gamble. But if you're planning on surround/eyefinity then it would be too much of gamble to take 3 times.

1) For gaming, no not really.
2) Look at the Crucial M4, Plextor M3, Intel 520, and Samsung 830 series
