zalman nb47j is obviously quiet... but how well does it cool...
can the thermalright nb1 or nb1c run under ~28 dbs but still cool well..
also... price is a factor...but i want a improvement over stock without making my quiet comp noisy

i think ill just get the zalman nb32j for my south bridge

I am currently using the ZM-NB47J and it has been great, it never gets past barely warm to the touch. If you have a couple fans in your case, or like me, in my case the Zalman 7000Cu CPU cooler blowing right over it, you will be more than fine.

Use some AS5 on the northbridge while your replacing your NB heatsink and it will work great.

I highly recommend Swiftech MCX159-A (AMD) or Swiftech MCX159-P (Intel) chipset coolers - the fan on those is SILENT, and the solid copper heatspreader along with helicoid pins not only looks good, but also works very well. My i875 does not go over 1C over the amient case temps, even at 250MHz FSB.

go to http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/memandvidcar.html to pick up what you need - i've ordered from them before, and their shipping is very reasonably priced and very quick.

swiftech is verry expensive compared to zalman tho.. i could get both nb and sb w/ shipping for price of swiftech

I recommend the MCX159 also, I was running mine fanless at 239FSB and it was barely warm to the touch. Looks great also ;)
The Zalman is the best for >$20 IMO

i just priced it out.. i could get the nb32j and the nb47j for $15 including shipping.. and i get to chop up the old sinks for mosfet cooling

i like the way it looked on SejinV's system was that a nforce-2 ultra 400 or hotter chipset?

i use a slk-800 with a 70 mm fan so its not gonna blow on it.. but i have a lot of case cooling

I had to take the picture off because that was the larger one and I didnt want to make this thread anti-56k without warning, but that motherboard actually is the Gigabyte GA-8I875 Ultra i875 P4 motherboard. Currently running a 2.8C at 3.2Ghz.

what would that be compared to a nforce-2 heat wise...
as posted on another thread.. i can get the zalman nb47j and the zalman 32j for $15 total including shipping... and i could then use the included epoxy for the mosfets

I've got the MCX159-A on my A7N8X-X. I lapped the NB, put some AS5 on there, and mounted a thermal probe next to the core. Ambient temp is 20C, and my NB is sitting at 33C. Pretty good considering that nForce2 chips are concave from the factory. ;)
