so my antec true power trio (430 watt) is now showing signs of degradation after 2 years of faithful service. when i play bfbc2 it crashes when i OC my 5770 to 1000/1400 and when i plug out the fans its all fine. so i guess i now need a new power supply. any good recommendations for a decent psu around my budget? ill be buying by the end of the month so there's time. i can also go a little bit over budget if needed to. i want something that can run the latest and greatest cause im planning to upgrade soon. any suggestions are welcome.

btw my specs are

Q9550 - 3.5 ghz (undervolted) to 1.2v (stock voltage is 1.25)
Hd 5770 - 1000/1400 1.2v
Asus Sonar DS
6 fans including HSF
1 hard drive (7200 RPM)

i know its not much but my psu is really struggling to keep up with it

The silverstone strider plus 850w should be within budget :p I don't have one but I've heard its a great PSU.

Agree with BurntToast. Bump up your voltage to stock and see if your stable. My mobo takes more voltage to hold its overclock now then it did a year ago, I had to bump it up 2 "clicks" to keep stable. Your antec is a seasonic based unit so it wouldn't be the first culprit I would suspect.

Pretty sure that unit would still be under warranty. Contact Antec first.

ive already tested OCCT for 8 hours with this voltage so doubt its my CPU. though it could be my graphics card, but from what i see all evidence seems to point at my psu cause i just unplugged 3 of my fans and everything is now stable.

I doubt its your CPU also. The q9550 is a great CPU and has much more overclocking headroom than our mobo's do. Our systems are pretty close to identical and I have seen a decrease in my mobo's overclocking stablility personally is why I would check that out. The other thing is the stock cooling on the northbridge sucks so do you have aftermarket cooling there? If you are unplugging any of your fans from the mobo, it still could be a mobo problem. Not saying it couldnt' be the PSU, but both of us our pushing a $55 dollar mobo pretty [H]ard. :D

Nope i dont have after market cooling on the north bridge, but i doubt its my mobo. I did have stability issues when i was on vista, but since I've upgraded to windows 7 everything has been rock solid, except when i play games with all my fans on and the video card oc'd to 1000/1400. And yes we are pushing this lil mobo [H]ard, lol.

Ever since I upgraded to my TX650 from aging or dying Antec TruPower PSUs, I'd have to say I never regret my purchase. My OCs are rock solid. Anything from the TX650 or higher should serve you well.

I just bought this for $80
