well i think i made a mistake buying Yate loons or maybe i made the wrong choice. i bought Black 120mm yate loons and got them today. they are High speed fans but i was thinking even tho they were high speed they would be pretty quiet

well i was wrong way wrong because these Fans wich i have x3 running in my antec 300 case are VERY loud. they do ush insane amount of air but the noise is rediculas.

Should i buy the the Medium speed fans or do you guys have other suggestions. What I want are SILENT fans.
 
I use Noctua NF-S12-1200 fans in all my machines and they are very quite and push a good amount of air. I'm at the 2 year mark and all 6 are running like new. Only down side is they are kinda pricey.
 
Scythe. I think silent is subjective. The 800 RPM fans are pretty darn close to silent, the 1200 RPM ones can't be heard unless your ear is within a couple feet, and the 1600 RPM ones are relatively quiet. If you aren't using a fan controller, and you still want quiet I would get the Scythe SFF21E.

Noctua fans are very fragile. They are quiet, but they can't take being accidentally dropped in your case as well as better fans. I tend to prefer the Scythe Gentle Typhoon series. They are built like tanks and are very quiet...of course that is subjective based on the amount of airflow,more air will make more noise, nothing you can do about it. I'd suggest going to shopping.google.com, sorting by lowest price, then checking the vendors out at resellerratings.com. To do full disclosure, my site is the cheapest reputable vendor on there. I just don't want to post the addy and spam this site. I'll just say our name starts and ends with a K. Other good places to shop are Jab-tech and Sidewindercomputers if they have other stuff we don't have that you're looking for. These sites are also run by good people.
 
well the problem with these yate loons are even running 1 fan is very annoying and loud. they are so annoying i have to kind of drown them out by turning up my game sound kind of loud.

ill check out the scythe fans be the last time i buy cheap fans. the funny thing is is that i have 2 ate loon 80mm fans that you can hardly even hear running at all. wich are used in my G/F's p4 pc
 
Scythe Slipstream at anywhere from 800-1200 RPM. These fans have a very good airflow/noise performance.
 
kool thanks for the info. seems everyone is using scythe's. i think my problem is from what i was reading the yate loons are 28.8dba and are 1900RPM wich i should of read that before i bought them.

i dont mind investing in good fans even if they are a bit pricey. im heading to the store for some shrimp and when i come back ill check out all your suggestions
 
lol i was wrong about the fans. the fans i got are 40DB 2200 rpm. well that would easily explain why they are loud
 
I heard so many people say the slipstreams were great,

I purchased 5 of them to replace all the fans in my Antec 900. Not only were they not as quiet as I had hoped (1200rpm) albeit not too loud, my problem was durablility. The bearings got loud relatively quickly. I do have a dusty room so I don't blame it entirely on them, but I have used a lot of fans and the slipstreams fell apart by far the quickest.

needless to say I have a hard time recommending them.

Don't buy into dB ratings. Most are marketing BS. Coolermaster aren't exactly known for their high quality fans.

Best cfm/dB fans out there are Scythe Gentle Typhoons for heatsinks, and Slipstreams for open air. Noctuas perform similarly but are needlessly expensive.

I have been looking at your site many times before, because I want to buy some GT fans among other things, but what is turning me down is the expensive shipping. Shipping a fan costs almost as much as the fan itself. And because of that I am looking at a site that will offer me free shipping on Noctua fans, since they do not carry GT fans(sadly).
 
I run three Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM and one H1 Panaflo in my computer. I tried Yate Loons, they were still pretty loud. The S-Flex are dead quite at 5V, with very little bearing noise.

I find my slipstreams to fairly loud for appreciable fan airflow, the S-Flexes are better in this regard. I currently have Ultra Kazes, Slipstreams, Kama-PWM, S-Flexes and I have 2 1850 Gentle Typhoons coming so...

Ever try lubricating the bearings? The Slipstream 1200 RPM I have in my case is definitely quieter than my SFlex 1200s ... SPCR's tests confirm this as well ..

I have 1900 Slipstreams & 1200 SFlexes. The SFlexes run at full speed but if I want similar airflow (hand test), I don't know what RPM the Slipstreams need to be but it is louder and can be heard over the S-Flexes.

We don't really make money on shipping, just charge enough to cover the actual cost plus packing materials. On some smaller packages we may make a little, but with some larger ones we lose a little, so it evens out. We get a lot of return customers because of our shipping, but depending on your location, other places could be cheaper if they are closer to you. Also, some places just go with higher item costs to cover cheaper shipping costs. I can assure you that shipping via USPS will not cost nearly as much as the fan itself.
