So I just bought a P4 640.. and i have the stock heatsink and fan.

I'm using Asus Probe to see my temperatures.. It reports CPU at 35 Celcius at idle, about 42 at load.

I mean, I'm not getting bad temps at all, but, they can get better, right?

I am stuck between the Thermaltake Big Typhoon, and the Zalman 9500.

Suggestions? Maybe I should just leave it at these temps?

probably not overclocking

If you aren't overclocking I wouldn't bother. Otherwise, make sure you take the Scythe Ninja into consideration.

Well i read a bunch of reviews and one said that the Big Typhoon is a great solution for someone who wants to replace the stock solution and lower the temps.

I'm just wondering, I have a HT processor.. and I was running CPU-Z, and it keeps flashing 2800 to 3200, switching between the two of them for my Mhz reading. From the drop menu, I can select two processors. When I select one of them, it show 2800, the other is the one that flashes. but when I run SiSoft Sandra, it shows 3200. WTF is going on? lol

I read somewhere that this fluctuating is due to the Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology that is enabled in my MOBO. Since my processor is sitting idle, it throttles down. Should I turn that feature off? Or could it be something else causing the multiplier and core fluctuations?

Man, after reattaching my heatsink properly, turning off Enhanced C1 and turning off SpeedStep, it's bloody fast! And I properly managed my cables inside my case for the best cooling conditions, and I'm idling at 29 degrees celcius on my CPU and MOBO.. with STOCK Intel cooling! Crazy..!!! Under load it's like 40 celcius
