i have a i7 920 overclocked to 4.1 Ghz, 6 gb DDR3 ram, and currently run a 8600GTS 256 Mb video card...with an Acer H233H monitor....i find the refresh rate a bit slow, i was unable to overclock the graphics card much at all....i would like to get the fastest refresh rate and performance i can from my setup....
would like to get a Gigabyte 260GTX OC card....i know its overkill,but would my refresh and performance be instantaneous or am i just wasting money?

Well, everything in your system is good, except your video card. I'm assuming that monitor is a 23" which is probably 1920x1080 resolution. A 260gtx is 2 years old. If you want a new card go with a 5850 or a gtx 470 if you are trying to save money. Otherwise you could pick up a used 260 for pretty cheap on the forums or craigslist.
 
i don't really play many games, mostly video and movie editing...that's why i think the 260GTX is overkill, but i WANT the instantaneous response (refresh),..hopefully i can get it with that card?
 
By refresh rate, do you mean frames per second or the monitor's refresh rate?
List a price you are willing to spend for the card and the games you are playing/considering.
 
the monitor refresh rate seems like it has too much of a delay....(IMO)

like i said i don't really get into games much......budget is about $175.00 for the card

If the monitor refresh rate is too slow, then why do you want to buy a new video card? Just doesn't make sense.

Get a 120Hz monitor with 2ms response time. 600Hz LCD TV's are also on sale now. You can also find 240Hz TV's for less.
 
no problem with screen tearing.......

I think i am not explaining my problem correctly...maybe the term 'refresh' isn't correct...let me describe as best i can... when i open a new page, it has a delay (especially pictures,they load starting at the top of the picture and gradually scroll down the page... instead of the whole picture instantaneously popping on the screen)..

hope that makes more sense??
thats why i thought the 'bottleneck' in my system was the video card...?

Sounds like you are using the built in super vga drivers in windows instead of the latest nvidia drivers.
