I have a 24" Samsung 245bw and had a 27" LG W2753V-PF, and recently the LG died. LG was going to replace it, but they are out (go figure) so they are going to refund my purchase price.

I have been looking for a newer display to replace it, but I can't really find anything that I like. I want a 27" + display with a resolution higher than 1920x1080. When looking at the 30" options they all seem pretty out of date, with even the 3008WFP 2 years old now. With the announcement of the Dell U2711 I might wait for that, but I would prefer an LED back lighting, but I don't really see that coming on the horizon.

Should I get a 3008WFP, 305T or should I wait for a newer option like the U2711? Anyone anticipate Apple announcing a new 30" cinematic display or a standalone 27" equivalent to their new iMac? I just wish they made a display I wanted to buy right now...

Look, just buy what you want, you won't be satisfied with it anyway. Newer stuff is always coming out, waiting for x is pointless because when that comes out something else is around the corner. Just set your budget and buy whatever you feel will suit you.

The Samsung looks nice, but thats really just a 27" HDTV, and after the horrible input lag I had with their 40" LED LCD TV Im not so sure samsung is really the best right now as far as monitors go. I've also had some problems with Acer reliability in the past, but I haven't used any of their new products because of it. It's unfortunate that the samsung is only 1080p resolution, too.

The samsung is not a TV, it has no TV tuner and is a 2ms TN panel, just like the LG and Acer

Yeah as I learned, 2ms response time is the time it takes for a pixel to turn completely black from completely white, not necessarily it takes for the screen to process an image from the source. The 40" LED LCD TV I had had a 2ms response time, and that didn't mean much when there was such a considerable input lag on it. We're getting into symantics as far as weather that screen is a TV or a monitor. You can say its a TV that can be used as a monitor, or you can say its one of the first monitors that includes an turner in it... either way, I don't trust samsung's input lag heritage.

I suggest you read up on LCD tech. Input lag is not the same thing as the pixel switching time, in fact, they are completely unrelated.

Yeah that's what I was pointing out, I guess I wasn't very clear between the difference in response time and input lag.

+1; Amen, Dave

Of course newer stuff is always coming out, but 2+ year old screens are the best large monitors out?

Apparently if 2+ year old monitors are still as good as it gets, then no, newer stuff isn't always coming out...

Well if were really serious about getting the best image quality possible you would get one of those 6-10 year old 24" Sony FW900 wide screen CRTs.

You're not going to find anything better than that.

You are clicking on the wrong shit, there is a P2770H and a P2770HD, one has a TV tuner, one doesn't. The input lag of the smaller ones was like 7ms I think so hopefully the bigger one will be similar.
