Looking for input on this build

Looks decent for the most part.

The 2080 could possibly be swapped out for a 1080 Ti for equivalent performance in today's games at lower cost, though perhaps the 2080 might prove itself in the longrun. Nobody knows yet.

The memory isn't on MSI's QVL for this board. That QVL is here, you'll want to pick something off the list for guaranteed compatibility at any particular speed.

The be quiet! cooler is overpriced and underperforms, in my opinion and the official opinion of HardOCP. If you want a nice air cooler, probably go with Noctua. Otherwise, I'd splurge for an inexpensive AIO solution.

Lastly, I'd spend an extra $10 and pick up a 2TB HDD.

Good deal, looking into all of those and possibly picking up a used 1080Ti in the interim.

Thanks

check out the thermalright true spirit 140 power. it hangs with the best of them for $50. one of the best bang for your buck hs options.

if you have a microcenter close by it may be worth it for you to take advantage of the $30 rebate on cpu/mb combos. 2700x= $250 air. be sure to do the math if you get heavily taxed as it may not be worth it.

True Spirit 140 Power height - 171.2mm
Define Mini C cooler height - 170mm

Somebody on another forum said there is foam on the side panel so you can make it fit. The True Spirit 140 Direct is almost as good, cheaper, and fits most cases.

Yeah the [H] review on that cooler was not the best. I have a Macho Rev B coming for my ryzen 5, it has pretty good results and is supposed to work in my ITX case.

I did a Ryzen build last week and started looking at micro atx but the options were slim. MSI is supposed to be better this gen but I heard last gen there vrms were bunk.
Thats a great price on that ram. I'v eheard qvl doesn't matter as much in this ryzen refresh, but don't quote me on that. I got the RGB version of that ram, same speed, paired with an Asus Strix-I B450. So far so good

Yeah I have a Microcenter around here, but is that cooler any good? I thought that was the cooler that came with the 2700x's anyway?

They come with the wraith. The thermalight Spirit 140 is something totally different. Just make sure it fits in your case.

haha completely forgot the 2700x came with the wraith cooler. its a solid hsf, if your not going to oc a ton it will work fine. itll save you $50-$80.
