I have a i7-930 that I plan on OCing to 4.0Ghz. Was looking at the Thermalright Venomous X and even thinking about the H50 or H70. Thoughts?

K. Well no input on either of those, so I think after reading a number of reviews, I'm going with the H50. It like it will take up little space, place less stress on the CPU and mobo, and it gives temps for other high end air coolers. Thanks.

Many people have decided to get the H50 and most are happy with what it provides.

I would look into getting the Scythe Gentle Typhoons to pair with it or some other fairly high static pressure fans to help with heat. Possibly in a push-pull configuration.

That's what I would do but I don't have one so I can't really say that's the best way. :p

As an owner of the H50, I'd skip it and get the H70 personally had I had the option then. If you can find a decent price.

Don't get me wrong, the H50 is a trooper but the H70 should be even better. Maybe not the high cost better, but if it can be found on sale or something, well worth it I'd think.

NCIX.com/NCIXUS.com seems to throw new products on sale when they first get them, though not always.

If you plan to stick with air I highly recommend Noctua. The NH-U12F is great or the D14 if you want the best. They seem more expensive, but considering that they come with excellent fans ($50 worth of fans on the D14) they have a 6 year warranty, and will mount on all modern AMD/Intel sockets, I believe they are worth it. Where they really shine is OC'ing, as only a few heatsinks can keep up with them...but they are also scary quiet.

The Venemous X is a great heatsink (probably the best heatsink on the market), but the fan is just OK. However, pay special attention to the mounting system...only the RT version will mount to all boards. If you go this route, I would get an aftermarket fan.

The H50 is a great idea, and is OK, but many air fans perform better, have a longer life expectancy, and zero chance of leaking ans destroying your board. The H50/70 are very nice though if you dont have much space.

I went from the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 to the H50 and saw zero difference in temps!

The H50/H70 have the added benefit of not taking up a lot of real estate in the center of your case. Something I personally find unappealing/ugly.

The Noctua does have dead silent fans, though they are butt ugly in that colour scheme! Again, personal preference.

What kind of temps are you guys getting with the H50? I like that it doesn't take up too much real estate too...

I went from an H50 in push/pull (one of those was 38mm) to a Cogage Arrow and dropped 5-7C in temps as well as enjoyed a much quieter system.

My H50 got transplanted to my mITX rig, where it does it justice as a tower heat sink wouldn't fit.
