Ok, I know this might sound really dumb, but I guess I'm just OCD or anal, or whatever you want to call it. I care about how the inside of my computer looks. I often pull the side off and stare at the innards, and I love showing friends the insides of it.

I've been shopping around for different heatsinks for some time now. I'm looking to replace the heatsinks on my Intel E8400, DFI LanParty DK P35, both of which I already own, and the HD 4870 I'll be picking up soon.

I don't necessarily have to have the heatsinks from the same brand, but I don't want one from Thermalright, another from Zalman, and yet another from Xigmatek.

I really like the Zalman 9700 and VF1000, but they're not the best performance for the money, and they're not very quiet with little to mod.

I like the Scythe Infinity and the Musashi, but the Musashi looks a bit weak for a 4870, and I'm wondering if the Infinity is even worth looking at with the other competition on the market. I've always liked this CPU cooler.

The best combo I've seen in terms of matching are the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 + Xigmatek Porter N881 chipset cooler + Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 with the black guards removed. I like the copper heatpipes with aluminum fins. Plus, it'll kinda match my OCZ Reaper HPC RAM.

I also really like the Thermalright HR-01+, HR-05, and Trad2. Of course, I'd be willing to also go with the IFX 14, and HR-05 IFX too.

I don't know. Can anyone help guide me in a decision? I know it seems very trivial, but it's important to me. Thanks for reading.

That's actually really up there on my list. I've always like Thermalright and have worked with some of their older hardware (XP 90 era). After years of screwing with Sunbeam and Thermaltake heatsinks that weren't all to great. It's tempting to go with a brand I know builds good stuff. I've also done my research on the other candidates and they too are good performers and pretty well built from my understanding.
 
lol get the limited edition full copper TRUE.. now thats a good looking heatsink if you just want something for show and performance..
 
The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 + Xigmatek Porter N881 chipset cooler + Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 combo you suggested is probably the best bangforthebuck solution.

All are very reasonably priced and perform extremely well.

For the MSRP, and the weight? Hell no. I've never been a TRUE fan (no pun intended). The full-copper version definitely does look beastly, but it's way too expensive and I'd have to try and find a full-copper heatsink for my video card too.

This being the best option for the money is why I've been leaning towards it more than the full-on Thermalright option. S1283 is $40 including the bracket, the Porter is $25 and the S1 is around $30. Plus shipping, and a tube a AC MX2, I'm looking at roughly $105. It's almost twice the price for the Thermalright coolers I had my eye on, including Nexus fans.

I got my S1283 for $19.99 after MIR, paid $6 shipped for the bracket. You can get an S1 used for ~$15 shipped here on the forums ... not sure about the Porter.
