Hi,
I just recently purchased ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller Panel - Retail fan controller (mainly for looks but now I want some functionality).
I currently am using a Thermaltake Armor. My primary source for cooling is a swiftech h20 apex ultra and I'm pushing 4.1 ghz on my e6600 without any voltage changes but I feel the airflow and cooling from the fans makes a bit of a difference too (I'm running 2x 90s 2x 120s, 2 x 120s on the rad, 1 x 250 on the side panel). I want to basically replace my thermaltake included 2 x 90mm fans (top exhaust, back hd exhaust) but what I noticed is my other 2 x 120 mm thermaltake included fans (front and back intake/exhaust, the blue led ones) while hooked up to the controller do not actually change speeds.
Anyways, what I wanted to do was swap these ugly 90mms for led blue/green (either or) to accompany the other pretty lights in my box. What I basically cannot figure out is how to tell if the fan will work with the controller. Obviously there's many times (surfing web etc) I dont need full cooling. Although nothing seems loud at all (To me) I would still find it "cool" if my fans slowed down when i turned them on low anyways.
1) What shuold I be looking for? I notice that I cannot find 90 mm fan in newegg but they have 92mms(?)
2) Is it possible to buy fans that can lock in to the thermaltake armor like the provided 90ms (and all the 120s actually) -- by this I mean with the plastic "screwless mounting" ridge things. They kind of slide and lock in to place. I would assume I might have to drill screw holes if I don't find them.
3) Is it possible to RPM monitor a fan that doesn't have the wire for it? Lik, can you add it ? Both the 120mm fans have the wire for the mother board fan jumpers, some do not though.
4) Would it be a bad idea to hook my radiator to the controller so i can turn it up and down? I can't figure out how to turn it up/down otherwise. It seems depending how I have the wires going the bottom or top will spin really hard and blow mass air and the other will be slow and vice versa.
Thanks
