Looking for fair laptop

Hey all,

I'm currently looking for a somewhat budget laptop for my girlfriend as I can no longer stand watching her use her 5 year old netbook.

Price range is somewhere between $300 and $450. I'd highly prefer either a second gen core i3 or an i5, 4gb of ram. Size of screen doesn't matter much, 15.6" or smaller.

I know it's quite specific and anything found would be a deal, but if someone knows of a specific laptop or deal that would match I would be extremely grateful.

There's a TON of i3 devices and even a great number of i5 devices that hit that price range on the upper end. Any other specifics that you have in mind to narrow it down?

Mind pointing me in the right direction for the i5 ones you're thinking of? I'd prefer a Toshiba or Lenovo if possible, and if it had discrete graphics that'd be nice (though at the price range I don't expect it).
