Looking for External CD/DVD Recorder

The best would be a Sanyo chipset based Plextor, like the PX-716A

You probably have few options. You have some pre-builts using laptop drives that can easily be had on ebay/Amazon. Any of those should do the job. I have a random brand one and have had no issues. That being said, *IF* you have a specific 5.25" drive you're enamored with, you can just slap it in an external enclosure from a reputable brand like Sabrent and you should be GTG.
 
all about the same and they are all prob samsung or lg anyways...
