Looking for comments on future case mod.

Hey all
I'm halfway through a mod but i need something to entertain myself while the glue drys. The basic idea was to build a whole computer (aside from the PSU) into 2 LCD monitors.

The plan was to mount the LCDs on plexi similar to how Defyant has done it on his HP5-Server.

This could then be mounted into a square frame made from aluminium box section using small L brackets.

The motherboard and graphics card with a riser case could be mounted on flat bar Aluminium across the frame. Then the hard drive plus water cooling gear on the back of the other LCD.

Each LCD and its Frame could be mounted on a hinge allowing it to be moved to any angle. It would also allow the entire load to fold in on its self to protect the screens during transport.The design has a few limitations (ie. no SLI, only one hard drive). But other then that it should work well.
One problem that i dont know how to solve is how to run watercooling lines from each side that won't be effected by the constant unfolding with out developing weakspots.

So yeah
Thoughts? Ideas? Popcorn?

Also some I'm interested has anyone seen a case mod like this? I've had a look around but I can't seem to find anything like this?
 
Nice idea. I'd ditch the watercooling but that's just me. All it takes is one yank of a tube accidently and blam, dead comp. As far as other ideas go, maybe a stand similar to an LCD stand that can carry the weight of both computers. Something like the batman begins case stand I did only a bit smaller.

Also, the riser kinda takes away from making it thin but I'd try to make it as thin as possible.
 
Yeah I'm undecided about the watercooling, If I was to use air cooling I could use a low profile cpu cooling such as a Thermaltake BlueOrb or something like that. I would have to devise some sort of duct system to feed cool air to the GFX card but thats not that difficult. This would also free up alot of room on the other monitor with out a radiatior and pump. I will look into what shuttle sized PSU are available as having an intergrated PSU would be much preferred.

As this is only the frst revision of the design I hadn't put much thought into a stand. I did look at oyur batman begins project and a scaled down verson of the stand you used looks like a good idea. I would use one on each monitor to help spread the load.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "the riser takes away from making it thin". The riser is what makes it thin??
 
what the point to have so big case and no watercooling. the tube issue might a little proplematic. one solution could be to make the tube go behind the case and have a vertical rectangle holes on the back of the case, and then you could have the tube(that goes behind the case) a bit longer so it has room to move a bit. that might just do the trick and no nasty leaks whould accur.
 
One advantage of air cooling is it would free up space so i could fit a shuttle type PSU into the case instead of using an external. The actual size was set by the size of the LCDs.
