looking for an h20 CPU block that...

...has barbs coming from the SIDE of the block, and not from the top. Basically I'm working on a project that requires the CPU be placed in an area with about 1.5" of vertical clearance above it. Watercooling is the only way to go, and the barbs obviously can't stick out of the top.

Now, you're wondering, what socket am I using? Well, I'm not sure yet. :p It's going to be a microATX board, so it could be socket 7 (highly unlikely), socket 370, socket A, socket 423, or socket 478. BASICALLY, I'm going to decide processor based on what waterblock I can use, get it?

Anyway, that's what I'm looking for, any recommendations? :)

cant you use a standard block... like the WW or something... then use a 90 deg. barb? ...

you would have measure it out, and it sucks to have 90's... but I think you would have enough room.

CUSTOM JOB! w00w00

Procooling.com, i'm sure you could convince someone to make one for you (check the forums)... 90 degree fittings is probably going to be your best bet, but if you're willing to pay the big dollar someone can do it for you, Hell, if you're willing to pay, i might do it... Hmm

Actually, after looking around, the Koolance CPU-300-H06 looks like it might be what I'm looking for. 1.1" tall which is about perfect, with horizontal fittings. only uses 1/4" ID hose, but I'm not going to be overclocking, I just need the cooling and it should be just fine for a stock processor. :)

That actually wouldn't be too bad of a choice (i know there are a lot of koolance flamers on the board, but honestly, the koolance systems do their job). The tubing is thinner, which will be a serious relief in a small system, Bends are a lot easier (tight radius bends) and the tubing is more flexible (for the same material). If the koolance doesn't work out, ask someone to make you a custom job, you won't be disappointed :)

Edit: Another option may be a swiftech block with the angled fittings/connects, Insert the tube and go, i dont know if it'll make your clearance requirements though, I don thave any first hand experiences with them :(

exactly. I'm just looking for a solution for cooling in a tight space, and not overclocking... seems like the perfect (alright, and only :p) block for the job. The small tubing is nice as well but not ABSOLUTELY necessary, I've got a decent amount of horizontal room to work with... just not vertical. But yeah... now I need to find some kind of radiator, that'll probably be HARDER but I couldn't even bother looking for one if I didn't have a block. :)

well, looking at how thin the base of the koolance is and that it's total height is 1.1"... it probably wouldn't fit. 90 degree elbows are just too tall. :(

watercooling in that is a waste. get a 1U fan and be done with it.

Also a very sound suggestion, i have a uATX mobo that will o/c so i'm going to build a case and do that, but a 1u sink is also a good plan... the swiftech i'm talking about doesn't use fittings, it just has angled quick connects, check out their site for pics, it MIGHt just work, it doesn't look like you have enough room, but you may be pleasantly surprised!

why is it a waste? it's my choice to use water vs. air cooling for my projects if I want to. I asked for advice with finding a block, not for you to try and sway my choice of cooling method. :)
