Looking for a small VFD/LCD display

I want to mount a VFD/LCD display on the front of my case (I have the Shuttle Reflexion) directly below the 3.5" bay if possible.

I have removed the front of the case and I figure there is just under half an inch of clearance (pretty much dead space) until the chassis (which I cannot cut through/move back because the HDD is directly up against it).

The front of the case is actually 2 pieces; the plastic/mirror panel which rests inside the black plastic cover that attaches to the case.

What I want to do cut through the cover, and scrape off the backing to the plastic panel to allow the VFD/LCD to show through.

I have only started looking around for VFD/LCD displays today and I am not sure which ones I want. I am pretty sure I would like something USB so I can do it all internal without having to solder anything to the motherboard.

Any suggestions? It doesnt have to be huge (like those that fill up 5.25" bay), but it must be less than 1/2" thick or have a controller card I can remove and mount elsewhere...

Sorry man, no usb lcd's or vfd's. There are places that sell kits so little to no soldering is needed, but it will either connect via printer port or serial port. What I was planning on doing is I wired up my lcd with a male DP25, then was going to attach it to the back of my case, and use a printer extension cable which has a male and femal DP25 plug on it, and use it to connect to the printer port. That way I dont have just a cable sticking out of the case or a huge hole.

I think that may have been the case at one point in time, but from what I can see Crystalfontz, and L.I.S. make USB ones and I'm sure others do too.

I think I will probably end up going with this one Here or something similar.
