I pretty much need something that is dependable, will do RAID5 and will notify me if a drive fails.

Thats about it. My needs arent extravagant. I might even be happy with software RAID. Like I said. Just something basic.

Any suggestions?

IBM MR10i with iBBU module to safely enable write cache for R5?

If buying new then something like a Adaptec 3805 with BBU or LSI 9260-8i + BBU

The perc 5i is fine. I did not answer because I did not know if it uses an SFF8484 or what. I could not see in the picture.

I have purchased similar products on eBay. Not sure how they make any money at all on these things but I do not argue.

Hmmmmm..... $5 cable with free shipping from China

Says it shipped. With a rating of almost 60k I dont have much of a reason to believe I wont get it.

It does astound me also how they make any money. Must be purely off quantity. Cables and junk tend to have the highest margin in normal sales environments.
