I cant seem to find a ps3 lower than 400....anyone know of any deals or sales soon?

im looking for a an 80gig model but a 40 gig is cool too, but this also brings another question, is there any difference between the 40 gig and the other models?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3#Retail_configurations as far as the differences.

I don't know of any deals on a PS3, they're very rare. Even on Black Friday, the "deals" were just adding a game and a movie most of the time to the bundle, but the price was still $399.99 and up. Sony doesn't reduce costs and won't anytime soon.

Your best bet is to hope something like the last amazon deal pops up soon, but I doubt it will. If you want a price lower than 400, you'd have to scourge eBay :(

Dell often has 'deals' where you can buy consoles for less than MSRP. If you ask me, an 80GB PS3 and Far Cry 2 for $399 is a good deal. Oh, "Dell Home Customers: Free 3-5 day ground shipping on orders over $129 (before tax)!"

sonystyle store often has 100 bucks off a purchase when you sign up for their credit card.

Just to elaborate on this further, this article will probably help the most when selecting a PS3... as a result I had to go into the used market to get backwards compatibility...

FYI, I'm 18, and since I don't have any credit history, I wasn't approved.

You know you're not approved if they say thanks for applying, we'll review your application blah blah blah. A week or two later you'll recieve a letter saying you weren't approved.

So you can try applying, but unless you have credit (and needs to be good), you won't get approved.

And like the person above said, you're either instantly approved, or you're not. Worth a try.

@Tyler
While there is a good chance that being only 18 you may get denied but just because you didn't get instantly approved doesn't mean you are out of luck. I applied for this back in October when it was $100 off. I applied online and got the same thing. 3 weeks later I got the card in the mail with a huge limit (of course I am in my mid-30's and own a house so it is usually easier to get credit). That day I went to order it and the deal was back up to $150 off. When I got my first bill they had only credited me $100 so I called and disputed and a couple days later they credited me the other $50. Today I just got a notice from them sort of officially saying they made a mistake and apologizing for all the trouble (!) and I didn't even raise a real stink.

YMMV

Edited to remove self-perceived dick-headedness

How many days between sign up and receival? I applied and purchased this week, and haven't gotten like a shipped notification or anything. Just signup and purchase info.

Signed up and bought on 11/25.

Received 12/3. (Received shipping notification same day I received it)

Check your local pawn shop. I just bought my 8 month old 40GB model for $200 and talked them into giving me a brand new DS3 for free :) I had a 160GB HDD at home already so I upgraded tot hat as soon as I got home, and I couldn't be happier! If it wasn't for Forza2 and GoW2 I would probably never touch my 360 again.

I bought my Ps3 with the Sonycard as well for $100 off. But I also bought it at Wal-mart when they were giving away $100 gift cards when you bought a Ps3. Bestest deal ever.

you would be better off looking online in the 2nd hand market grab a few bargains for those who need to sell urgently :)

I would look for a used one. PS3s are pretty reliable. I bought my 60gb used over a year ago and have had no issues with it (the problem I've commented on about blu-rays turned out to be me being an idiot).
Since the HDDs are user upgradeable (and doesn't void the warranty!), I wouldn't be too concerned with that.

I would think that using MS Live cashback on eBay would be your best bet. Just wait for a 25%-30% day.
