Looking for a portable/lightweight windows firewall...

I'm looking for a firewall (other than Windows firewall) that is extremely lightweight and can filter on a port range and application.

Is there anything out there better than SterJo's NetStalker firewall? This firewall unfortunately only allows you to filter on a specific port, and not a range or entire application.

Thanks guys.

I'd try giving Comodo Firewall a shot. It's probably one of the better solutions, paid or free, for regular users.

You can also learn to use Windows built-in Firewall. It's actually pretty damn powerful if you know what you're doing. It does have a heavy learning curve though.

Thank Liger88. I'll give Comodo a shot and see how it is. And, yeah I know..I will settle on Windows Firewall if I must..but I just can't stand the snap-in console lol. I'd rather have a simple, detailed iptables-like process in my system tray.

Comodo is no good unfortunately..it keeps giving me this error no matter what I do:

Fatal error

Any other recommendations?

D3DAiM,

It sounds like you are installing to a protected \Program Files\ directory which requires you to run the installer as Administrator. Right click the installer .exe and run as administrator. This should get rid of that error.

"No matter what I do" does not provide sufficient information for any troubleshooting you tried. Please provide more information.

Tried safe mode and right-click and running as an admin and it didn't work. Fatal error. So at this point I'd rather move on to a different firewall solution. This software is obviously not light enough ;)
