Looking for a nice, affordable LCD

I'm looking to replace my clunky old CRT. I want a LCD monitor that is 19" or more and is great for gaming. I want a monitor that will fit on my desk. I have a large budget but I don't want to spend too much money (I get kinda a guilty feeling doing that). So I want something that is bang for your buck.

My friend recommended this Viewsonic monitor here:

It has a $50 rebate today. Should I jump on this or grab a different monitor?

i have that monitor and have been pretty happy with it. great for games, inexpensive. it's freaking BRIGHT though... i had to turn the brightness way down to comfortably use it.

although now at work i have a 24" dell, and well that's a whole different experience. now they've dropped the price so much on the 30" i'm starting to think "hey, i don't need a new car - i need a new display!"

I have a Viewsonic VX922. I love it. I went with a 19" LCD cause I cant aford the best of the best when it comes to video cards so I went with a monitor that had a reasoble resolution. most 19" monitors are 1280x1024, also I stayed away from widescreen because there is a few games that still dont have support for them, BF2 for one, and from what I hear BF2142 won't either!
I personally dont think it is to bright. Only real problem this monitor has is limited viewing angle, however if it is sitting at eye level head on it is great, move up or down much and it starts getting darker, but hey, its a monitor not a TV your not going to have the family siting around a room watching movies on it, your going to be sitting at your desk playing a game so its not really a problem.
I got mine from newegg, its alot cheaper there! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116375
I paid $380 for mine, even att hat price I think it was more than worth it!

BF2 and BF2142 can both be played in widescreen. I've done it on my Samsung 205BW at 1680 x 1050. All I had to do is append the text "+fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050" at the end of the shortcut 'target' string.

Best Buy is going to have the Westinghouse 22" lcd on sale for $200 on Black Friday (11-24) - no rebates. Get there EARLY. :D

If you haven't already bought your monitor, I would suggest the samsung 215TW 21" absolutely brilliant monitor. I have a viewsonic 924VX & I really like it, but put next to my 244T 24" samsung really shows the difference in screen display samsungs' way. I also have a sony crt G400 19" monitor running in a dual setup & I would say that I like the samsung still up against it in comparison - even the blacks are probably just as good. Just be very careful buying 22" w/screen lcd s as prob. all of them (even samsung's new one) have chimei cheap almost nasty panels in them.
One thing to watch is that fast lcd's such as my v/sonic 4ms & the vx1922 2ms is that the speed is really a trade off (in any monitor) with output quality. Just put them side by side. The 244t is a rated 6ms g-g & 16ms blk - blk. The 215tw is the same I am sure.
Anyway, it's all fun,
cheers

What panel do they use in that? I have an opportunity to horse trade for one if I want.
