Hi there,

Sadly my old Geforce MSI NX8600GT has reached it's end, and now i'm looking to buy a new one, but i'm not really updated with all the new technologies and stuff, so i need your help with this!

I don't have a lot of money to spend, my budget for the card is around $50-100 and i really don't want to spend more than that if it's possible.

My actual hard is the following:
Mother: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Micro: Core 2 Duo E4500 2200MHz
Ram: 2gb DDR2-800
Monitor: Dell ST2410 Full HD 1920x1080
PSU: Powercooler 500w

Keep in mind i don't want to update any other part of the hard [for now] and i'm not going to perform any overlocking.

So based on this configuration and the low amount of money i want to spend, what is the best option to go for?
Is the psu enough to support all the things?

Do you game at all? I don't see how managed to run a 8600 GT at your resolution if that is the case.

There are a lot options depending on what you need the video card for from a 5670 to a 5770. Even that 5670 is vastly more powerful then your old video card. If you do not game at all just look into a 5450.
 
The monitor is new, i didn't use it yet, now i have a regular CRT but since i want the new video card, i would like to use the new monitor with that resolution.
And yes, i plan to use the computer to play games.

What's the differences between 5670, 5750 and 5770?
I can have a 5670 for $130
a 5750 for $180
and a 5770 for $200

Is it worth it to pay the diference and go with the 5770, keeping in mind i won't update the rest of the hard?
 
Do not go to where ever you are looking at those cards.

Get a 5770 off of Newgg for $100 after MIR.

A 5770 will meet your needs given your budget. You would have to spend about $50 more to get more performance and likely a new PSU to support the card. Thankfully the 5770 is powerful given its power requirements being so low.
 
Unfortunately, the prices i gave you are the prices i can get the things here in Argentina, unless i buy the thing at ebay, but then i have the issue of the custom taxes [and thieves..], so i'm kinda resigned at paying that money.
 
Is the price you listed originally USD or for Argentina dollars?
 
This shows the difference between the 5770 and 5750. Your choice if it is worth the extra $20. You should go with a 5750 minimum for the res you want to play.

What are the prices for the GTS 450, GTX 460, 5850, and 6850 over there?

I think i'll buy a 5770!
But now the question is:
Is it worth it the "Vapor-x" feature?

The prices you asked are:

I was hoping the GTS 450 may of been cheaper, oh well.

How much extra is the vapor x?

Your cpu is a little slow for a 5770 ,I'd go for something cheaper.

Vapor X isn't worth it for a 5770.

Was the price you quote on the GTX 460 for the 768MB version?

and what part of Argentina are you in? I will be visiting Buenos Aires in December or January
 
Thanks for all your answers. I finally bought a 5770 and it's pretty good :D
Now for the next update, should i go for more ram [2 more gb], or buy a new micro?

The price i gave you was for the 1gb version.

I live in Buenos Aires, what specific part are you visiting?
