Aerocool spiral galaxies, one of the best cases in terms of layout ever in my opinion

rear.jpg

http://www.aerocool.us/p-case/spiral-galaxies/spiral-galaxies.htm

However, sadly it has become a little dated, and a little small for my uses. Id like something larger with more space around the motherboard on all sides, but with the same separation of duties (hard drives, psu, and mobo all compartmented)

Anyone have suggestions for a more modern case with similar chassis design?

(the TJ07 is close, but its so darn expensive)

LOL, I have that exact case and love it!! Cooling was kind of crappy outside of the CPU area. As for similar, did you mean the quasi-BTX style like the Aerocool? Also, what kind of price range?

The quasiBTX is nice, i like it, but it wouldnt be an absolute requirement

What i like most is the HDs up top, and horizontal like that i think makes for really nice cabling.

Price range, under 225 would be nice

Yes it is, but being exactly the same, means its the same size too. Im looking for something a little bigger, more room to work around the mobo and better airflow

Theres a lot of fans of the stacker, but it doesnt have the component isolation im looking for, nor the horizontal HDs. Im really a big fan of that HD placement

The Antec P180/182/190 have a compartmentalised layout, so you might want to look into those cases.

where are you?

i have this hugeass GD motion case...

it may be baige and crappy, but it holds anything up to 9 HDD's with at single DVD drive, with more room on the floor for HDD cages...

"Beige and crappy" isnt exactly a good selling point :)

Nah, im looking for something professional, honestly the TJ07 is so very close but i cant afford 300 dollars for a case

Sorry if this is off-topic a bit, but what is the purpose of those "air tunnel" things I see in cases every now and then. I mean, I know if must be for cooling, but is it just an enclosed tube from the front fan to the rear, or are there openings in it where it directs air to components or something?

its just an enclosed tube. its meant to keep the air moving only from the front to the back in that tube, so it would help cool the cpu area only

When i still had a small heatsink that would fit in the tube, (before the days of ninjas, and u120e's etc that wind tunnel worked amazingly. I had temps in the 20s when norms were low 40s.
