Hey,
Just wondering if anyone has a link or links to any useful AIO (All In One) guides for building a complete HTPC set-up, that includes not only the PC components and set-up but also

  • Software (Codec, Configuration, Library, Management)
  • Speakers
  • Connections (I/O, Configuration, Cabling)
  • Devices (Receiver, Amplifier)
  • Settings (Calibration, Configuration)

I've got the first part covered at the top of this sub-forum in the sticky thread.

As for the rest, I was thinking about doing a general setup type thing in the future. There are so many variables though..

Yeah, I've had a look at it, good read.

Definitely plenty of variables, it would definitely be an epic and rewarding thread though. Perhaps one exists out there already...

w1retap has a great guide sticky at top.

I would love to hear ideas on this. I remember last year everyone was hot for speaker bars.
That didn't last long and then all the + people were saying they are junk (WAY OVERPRICED)

I asked about a small receiver with some speakers next to my tv. The only replies I got were how to use a 1000amp receiver and in wall speakers and ceiling back and $5000+ setup...

I gave up on this real quick.

The last 4 have nothing to do with HTPC's so I'm not sure why anyone would include them in a HTPC oriented guide. That is stuff you either already know or just keep reading until you know. Make some threads over at AVSForum.com.

Well to say it has 'nothing' to do with HTPC's, how can you have a PC and no connections, speakers and not want some other devices to further enhance your system?

Well this is a HTPC subforum, not a home theater forum. There are better suited places for that information.

Point taken, just thought that someone may know of a guide that covers all elements of a HTPC build, not a home theatre build without a PC.

I'd recommend avsforum.com as others have pointed out. They have sub forums for everything on your list.
