Looking for a good Modular PSU....

is the Antec NEO Power 24pin or 20pin. I'm almost Convinced to get this one. Will 480W be enough power to handle an A64 System, with Water Cooling. I cant really find any detailed Specs on it. Does it have enought SATA connectors for 2 HDD and a DVD Burner. Anyone with user experience of the Antec NEO Power care to share thier thoughts on this PSU.

The Neopower has got a 24-pin ATX connection.

What kind of water cooling...?

I'm not sure what kind of Water Cooling it is, I have posted the Specs for it here; Water Cooling System

You can also look at the Superflower Plug-N

The SuperFlower Looks Realnice and it has a good price. I'm also lookin at the ThermalTake 550W PurePower Modular PSU. It looks good too......

I would avoid it unless someone can show me a picture of the guts. If it is a Superflower rebrand like the Maddog's it would be fine...otherwise the Thermaltakes PSU's especially of late are not so good.

The SuperFlower I'm Looking at appears to be like the Maddog's. Not sure though.
SuperFlower 550W Modular PSU

Heres the ThermalTake I was Lookin At, looks pretty good, but obviously I dont know that much about PSU quality otherwise I wouldn't be askin you guys....ThermalTake 550W Pure Power Modular PSU What I like about the ThermalTake the most is the fact that its Modular and SLI capable, which I plan on running SLI here in the near future.

SuperFlower 550W Modular PSU

Yeah that is it...but xoxide doesn't have them in stock....directron does. Superflower is the OEM....Maddog rebrands them in the states for retail sale.

It is also out of stock there......as for SLI capable well that depends on how good a supply it is.....

On the outside it looks an aweful lot like an AC Ryan...whcih didn't fair so well during review over at System logic. Again though without a good review or at least a gut shot or two I wouldn't recommend it.

I found some Specs on it;
ThermalTake

Does that tell you anything about it?

Unfortunately no...that is also the only "review" I know of and it sucks. 10 pages of garbage pictures that don't help any and then they use MBM to get voltages

Anyway...I would avoid the thermaltake until we know. If you want/need an ATX12v2.0 Modular PSU get the Antec Neopower ti is a known quantity. If you want/need an ATX12v1.3 then look at the Superflower or the OCZ.

yea, i cant find anything else on the ThermalTake either. So Its narrowed down to either OCZ ModStream, SuperFlower, or Antec NeoPower. So lets focus on those. What do you guys think would be the better choice. I'm leaning towards the OCZ ModStream, does anyone know if I will be able to use the OCZ with SLI?

You can score the 450 ModStream for $59 AR shipped from Monarch.

The modstream like the Superflower is not an ATXv2.0 PSU only the Neopower is.

I have seen the Neopower run 6600GT and 6800GT SLI. It isn't certified for it but it can be done so long as you stay in it's rated spec for total system draw.

Despite what these guys say... I use the X-Connect 500W. So far, I've escaped tar and feathers. :D

I also give a thumbs up to the OCZ ModStream (I throw that in to save my ass.).

If you're looking to save money, take a look at the Superflower. It's just like the Mad Dog, but without the name brand and ready availability (which means you have to buy it from someone like Directron instead of CompUSA or Newegg... not that there's anything wrong with that.) The cables aren't as nice as the Ultra or OCZ, but they're Ok.

Hideous looking modular power supply of the year goes to Antec for the NeoPower. Also VERY expensive. I'd just as well go with the Superflower. ;)

Don't get me wrong. The Antec is a strong power supply. Efficiency isn't great, but the voltages hold up. <plug> Matter of fact, I've got a four PSU shootout wrapping up this week that should go up on SLCentral this next weekend.</plug> It's essentially a dual rail power supply comparison. Load tests up to 16A on each 12V rail. The victims are the NeoPower 480W, the Silverstone 520W, the Enermax EG495P-VW and Ultra's new X-Finity with Flex Force cables. Other than typing up the bulk of the test (tonight's work?) the only thing holding me up is Ultra's NDA. I can't get anyone to email me back about how much I can say about a power supply that's not due out until next month. :(

Can't say anything about any Thermaltakes that are out there except for the PurePower 480W's... and those really do suck. ;)
