I pretty much have no price limit here people. I just want one of the cleanest 5.1 headsets with an outstanding mic quality I can get. My sound card currently is the X-Fi Titanium, so I don't know if that plays a factor at all with the headset purchase.

I originally had the Sennheiser PC350...but my biggest complaint is how I've gone through 3 of these already due to poor and frail construction of where the band meets the actual cans. Almost any pressure snaps this joint (sitting on them, putting them in a backpack, etc.) I've had my Sony, and Panasonic headphones for 10 years...beat the hell out of them and they are still working fantastic (but alas no mic and only stereo).

My preferred price range would be someone between 150-250, so any recommendations would be extremely helpful.
 
Then get the Sennheiser PC360's. Or you could get a nice pair of headphones like the JVC HARX900's or Audio Technica's.
 
Check out the Sharkoons. While the they are not audiophile grade, they are pretty damn good for gaming. The Xtasy model has a small breakout box that will accept optical, coxial or 5.1 line in. It's got a detachable mic that plugs into the left side, and you can use USB or Mic in jacks for the mic. I'm not disapointed in them whatsoever. Oh, and they are NOT what I'd consider portable. You do need to plug them into a power source.
 
Yea I'm looking for one that has both a mic and speakers in one....slightly portable w/o a power source, lol. Is the PC360 my only option?
 
Do some reading up on Headfi. Its commonly accepted that a good pair of headphones will beat a gimmicky 5.1 headset any day. For decent headsets look into Senheiser, Corsair, Roccat, and Astro. If you do said research you'll find everyone is going to recommend a quality set of headphones and a clip on mic.
 
Take a look at the Corsair's headset, people seem to like them.
 
bought the corsair headset...holy shit this has to be one of the worst decisions I've ever made with a headset.

All the audio does is crackle, crackle, crackle, every few seconds. Should of known that this was going to happen due to it being USB. I've had quite a few friends who have the same problems with their USB headsets. It really disappoints me since it seems like when the audio doesn't crackle every few seconds it sounds really nice.

I updated chipset, bios, sound card, and vidoe card (ATI) drivers....as well as uninstalled all older drivers to see if this fixed the problem but it doesn't. Even I even disabled my one board sound and lastely changed the USB data rate from High Speed (12Mbps) to Fast Speed (480Mps)...none of these things have fixed the issue.

I have they sound perfectly fine on my wife's computer, but the fact is...it doesn't work well on mine. USB devices like this seem to be so finicky, it is retarded.
 
Try removing all Creative software (drivers too), and removing the X-Fi. See if that helps.
 
THIS is why I always say to avoid usb headsets. They can work fine but they can totally suck too. Get real headphones. Much safer bet and music will sound good too.

Yea pretty much took out all the hardware I could, uninstalled every driver that I think would effect it...made sure that everything was grounded correctly on my tower...and still to no avail, it has not helped. USB headsteps...what a crock of shit.
 
Uninstall all your Realtek drivers also. This helped me with some problems I was having with my uDAC-2. Won't hurt to try.

I not only uninstalled them I disabled the sound completely in the bios. It doesn't matter I took the HS1 back to the store and then picked up the Tritton AXPRO.

Again...another bad Idea. On my wifes computer, my netbook, and my computer you basically hear feedback from the computer when you scroll up or down on a webpage, you can not turn the volume up very high or else you start to hear a hissing noise.

Do any manufactures make good headsets anymore, I've had 3 headsets prior to this on my same machine and none of them have had any problems...this is just bad.

I'm getting pretty irritated cause now I need to take these back to the store as well. I really need a good recommendation for some really nice analog 5.1 surround sound headsets, that don't EVER plug into the USB (just too much looping background noise).
