I'm going to a car show in a month and I don't have a camcorder to bring with me and was wondering what you guys might suggest as a good brand/model.
Came across this one on Outpost.com and thought it was a good one (i'm kinda noobish when it comes to video recorders). What do ya think of this one?

I don't want to spend too much money on one, since my paychecks usually are dedicated to my computer. I'm thinking around the $500 price range is good. Any suggestions?

My only problem with Canons is that they look very cheap. VERY cheap. Considering how much you pay for it, the paper under plastic buttons really seem poor.

We have a Panasonic PVDV800 from back in the day - still solid. I recommend more or less anything by Sony, JVC, or Panasonic, and not in that order. You can find some really good deals out there.

i was playing with that exact camera in bestbuy this evening... kinda flimsy but a really good zoom on it.

good price i guess

thanks for the opinions, I wasn't sure about the cannon and don't really think i'll be buying it. I'll browse some Sonys and Panasonics and see what I can get.

My preference is Sony. Have owned several models throughout the past 13 years and they've never let me down.

How about this one? Is Sony the only brand that offers the ability to film at night?
I'm looking to transfer all the video from the camcorder to the PC. How well is the picture quality when its transfered from a video camera using MiniDV?

Canons ARE cheap. Even their prosumer/pro level cameras (GL1, GL2, XL1, XL1s) are cheap and break easilly. In your price range I'd go for a sony.
