Well I have a benQ 931, or had and someone said somthing about the VP191B not being much better, Is there anything that has a good viewing angle conrast ratio and 16ms or less ?? Lookin for a 19" 600 or so CR, 160-170 etc..... :/ any suggestions?

There isn't any. That's exactly why I think CRTs are better monitors overall. Good CRT will be good for everything while with LCDs, even with the most expensive ones, you have to make compromises. If you are bothered by narrow viewing angles, avoid TN panels like the plague. If you are bothered with blurring in games too then IMO, your best bet would be to go with a CRT. I'm happy with my 193P that uses a PVA panel which are the only ones to come close to CRT in terms or contrast and viewing angles although it's not the best monitor for games.

Read the article below,

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/lcd-guide.html

It explains why having everything in an LCD is technically impossible. If you have great viewing angles and good color reproduction then the response time will be terrible. If you have insane response times then the viewing angle and color reproduction will be at-best mediocre. Right now you pick out an LCD monitor that makes compromises, if you're a gamer then get something with mediocre color reproduction and good response times. There is one display technology currently available to consumers that does everything that might be worth looking into for you, it's called CRTs.

Thanks for that reply =p all thought a bit sarcastic it was VERY helpfull,
Seems I Should either drop the money on a good VS CRT, or look for a decent IPS model,

Anyone suggest a good IPS 19" =p ? Anybody have any input on the LG1910B ? I can give up the high contrast ratio in exchange for a good viewing angle =p
otherwise I probably wont bother with that Viewsonic vp191b and go for a BenQ 937S...

I'm using an LG1910b at work, it's a fairly decent LCD. Pretty cheap with great viewing angles and average image quality (for a xVA screen). Note that this is a 25 ms xVA screen. It's an excellent LCD if you surf and work in windows.

When it comes to ghosting I've only run 3dmark03 and it ghosts very little. But from experience at home with my 20 ms Samsung 193p, 3dmark isn't a very good test for ghosting, HL2 seems to be the best game for that.

I had my hopes up for a cheap 19 inch widescreen LCD gaming monitor for a good price.   I guess only in the astral could that happen :D

why do you say its an xVA, all the sites I've seen now say its an S-IPS screen. Which is why Im looking into that as a possible choice, I do game, nothing hardcore in terms of FPS, occasional CS, Farcry, HL2, and some MMORPGS, I watch Anime and movies on my computer too, surf and future use for school(programming). How are the colours on that screen? any complaints about it?

Personally, I like the VP191. I haven't had any experience with the BenQ 931, but I have a VP191 and I think it's a great LCD. Of course, you could go with the Viewsonic VP912 ; with its 12ms response and 160/160 viewing angle, it's probably the best on the market right now...... and carries a price tag to prove it ;)

I believe the L1910B uses an S-IPS panel. I know for a fact that the newer model L1930B does. I'd say it's a pretty good compromise. You get wide viewing angles, decent response time (although 25ms, still faster than 25ms xVA panels), good color reproduction but just like TN matrixes, the contrast is poor. If you can live with that, the 1930B is a very good choice IMO.

thanks Thats what ill look for today then. I plan on having 2 monitors eventually anyways, 2 19" lcds. the biggest bother to me was the viewing angles since the top of hte screen looked darker :/

what does the new model 1930B have over the old one? all the specs look the same to me.

Yeah, they have the same specs. I guess the new model uses a newer panel plus it looks so much better than the 1910B which is fugly IMO ;)

According to LG there are both MVA and S-IPS variants of the L1910B and there are no gurantees you will get the S-IPS panel.

I'm pretty sure that the L1930B is a MVA panel unless there are S-IPS variants of this LCD too.

The L1930B is S-IPS and the L1930P is MVA. You could be right about the 1910B though. LG used to change panels without changing the model number which caused a lot of confusion.

Yes, you're right the L1930B appears to be S-IPS.

Viewsonic VP912b....nuff said. No regrets, and no way I'd ever go back to a CRT. Check it out.

I've read that the viewsonic 912b is supposed to be pretty good as well. Too bad its $600+ :(

Well the search is over
Im gonna get the BenQ FP2091 which uses an LG-Phillips 16MS S-IPS panel, and has 176deg viewing angles. !!!!! I cant wait to get it now

it uses the same panel tha the 200P uses too =p

the FP2091, Dell 2001FP, and the Viewsonic 201 all use that same LG-Phillips 16ms panel. The Dell is also manufactured by Benq I believe... so I hope you're not too worried, reading these threads on that. lol. Let me know how it goes, and if the screen-door effect is noticable to you (as many have noticed it on the other 2 LCD's). I was thinking of getting one of those 3 monitors, but didn't like the reports I was hearing about the colour/brightness uniformity, ghosting, and the SDE. But as much as the 2005FPW looks better on paper, I'm not sure about that, either! Damn the LCD market!

I've got a Sony HS94P. Its beautiful to look at, has a great viewing angle, a 12ms response rate, and Sony quality. Might consider it.

While the Sony's likely a great monitor (since sony has pretty good standards with QC), it has a TN panel, so it's likely 6-bits per pixel, and I am looking for an 8-bit. Damnit I know I've complained a lot about the LCD market, but it's such a pain in the ass.

Great viewing angles? The vertical viewing angles on the HS94P are so narrow that you can clearly see the top of the screen is darker than the bottom.
