Not sure if this is where this can go, but here goes. I need a desk to put my computer on/under. I've been working with a notebook for the last 5 years, and have been using one of those folding tables whose legs go under the couch... lazy me. i don't have too much space to work with... maybe a 6' desk at most. I'd like an L desk, but i'm not terribly picky. just no glass, and under 200 bucks. i've been looking at staples, and they have one for 69 bucks that is 47" square, but i'm not sure if thats big enough. i've got an ASUS VW266H to put on it also. keyboard shelf is necessary, but if need be, i can always build one myself. Thanks for the help guys.

My desk happens to be a wooden butcher block style dining table. It's 5.5 ft. long and 3 ft. wide. The main difference between one of these and the so called computer desks is that there is enough room to put a sheet of writing paper in front of you along with the keyboard (of course, I'm using a space saving lcd monitor). The vast majority of computer desks have no space for laying paper to write on and I call that a bad design.

Thats a desk I like, but would like to find a glass version, where the top is actually glass, instead of wood.

For inexpensive, I'd have to suggest Ikea, if you have one near you. When I needed a cheap desk, I went for the Vika Amon Tabltop w/ Vika Curry Legs.

59x29.5 (x1, $30) + 39.375x23.625 (x1, $10) + 8 legs ($5 each) = $80 + tax
Alot of space for the money. The tables are pretty sturdy... they held my 22" CRT nicely. This is my old setup:
