Well, I go to school away from home. When vacations come along, I always need to carry my desktop computer back and forth. I refuse to get a laptop and am looking for an alternative. Making a small desktop, without having to sacrifice any power for size.
What set of cases will be best for my situation? I have taken a look at a few micro-atx and shuttle cases, but I am just not sure. It would be very helpful if people posted suggestions for cases and maybe some nice motherboards that go well with it.

I would have said either the Aria, or SFF PCs, e.g. the Shuttles. Go with the Shuttles if you want the smallest (but still powerful) PCs on the market. Go with the Aria if you want to upgrade it, without having to buy a new case.
 
CM Praetorian is good if you want a light mid-tower that will accomodate full-ATX motherboards. The Aria is great if you can find a good Micro-ATX board. Shuttles still beat everything as far as size and performance, and are pretty quiet. My college rig is going to be a Shuttle for sure.
 
tbh praetorian is a pretty stupid choice for portability. While it may be more portable than steel cases, and a lot stronger than the latter, it is a lot heavier than most other aluminium cases I could mention.
 
my CM pretorian only weighs around 12-13 lbs with everything in it, its not a heavy case man.....

even then if your worried about space get a mid tower and put it under your desk, then get a LCD monitor and your set
 
That certainly has not been my experience, Shaolin...

Besides, 12-13 pounds is not really an issue for portability, I hope we can all lift at least that without too much struggle.

At any rate, a Shuttle is still what you really want. They can be as powerful as most desktops, and are by far the most portable box around.
