Hey Guys, im looking for a really big case, heres some specifications id like.

Priorly i had a full tower Antec Dragon, but its just too small even though its a full tower.

Ive been looking at the the Thermaltake Armor and Kandolf, the CM Stacker, and the Aerocool Spiral Galaxies.

I really like how the harddrives mount sideways in the spiral galaxies, but i like the pure size of the stacker. And i like how the stacker and kandolf look.

I know there are a lot of stacker !!!!!!s here, and a lot of people who hate thermaltake. But neither is perfect for me, here's the specification i would like

#1) Really big, i want to be able to work with my sli array and 4 HDs with no problems, right now i cant even reach through the cables.

#2) A window would be nice, i like to see whats going on (make sure fans are spinning, nothing is on fire, etc :) )

#3) Sideways facing hd rack like spiral galaxies.

I run a standard atx mobo, 4hds, an sli array, and a modular Nuuo PSU and two optical drives if that helps.

Thanks in advance guys, toss out your recommendations for big cases that look decent :)
 
what is your price range.

i know alot of people who love their mountain mods box case (i dont remember exactly what its called) but its like 3XX dollars. what you do get is a metric ass load of room fans and windows galore

silverstone TJ-05, with the added advantage of good cooling and lovely design
 
@ the lian li's

Unfortunately those, although ive never used one, look far too small, almost like mid towers.

@ the silverstone, decent, but no sideways facing hd cage (by this i mean the hds are at a 90 degree angle to the sides of the case), and no window

Im considering maybe getting the stacker and modding a window into it, unfortunately im not great with a dremel
 
You don't need to mod a window on a stacker, you can buy a side panel at NewEgg for $30. It is made by Coolmaster, too.
 
Wow, good call on the window. Tis a nice looking window too.

Overall, i think i might be sold on the stacker, this picture says it best

Any case that can handle a quad board like that and still have some room is pretty freaking huge.


Still open to suggestions though :)

The Termaltake Armor has LOTS of fans.
A window
Lots of room for cable management and for GTX length cards
Can support 14 drives
But they don't mount sideways.
 
Wouldn't most cases--mid-tower even--fit what you're seeking with proper cable management (assuming 4 HD's and 2 video cards). Just wondering why you need so much space... not that I'm telling you to get a small case

I swap parts in and out constantly, so i dont want to have my cables tucked behind everything and hard to get at, im looking through the ones you guys all proposed and think im either gonna end up going with a stacker or a lian-li pc-v2000 series. Those are about the size im looking for i think

Eek! I see your problem now. That must be a nightmare, in any size case!
 
Its just so hard to tell how big things are from pictures. I love the external look of the armor, but im not sure if its big enough.
 
Newegg lists dimensions for most of the cases it sells.

for example (HxWxD):
CM Stacker 21.2" x 9" x 23"
TT Armor 20.9" x 8.7" x 22.1"
LL V1000 19.3" x 8.3" x 20.7"
LL V2000 24.3" x 8.3" x 24.6" (that's a big case!)
Chenming 901D 26.4" x 8.1" 18.6" (a true full tower)
Antec Titan 17.6" x 8.1" x 23" (nice a deep)
 
Yeah, i know dimensions are listed, and they are helpful to a degree. But sometimes theres a big difference between external dimensions and usable internal space. My current antec dragon is almost as big as the stacker according to pure dimensions, but it cant even fit an eATX board due to how things are origanized inside
 
Ah, I understand. I think the extra depth in cases like the Stacker would serve you well. I recently ordered an Antec Titan (I wish they sold it without the powersupply) because I wanted a deep case due to the full length 7800GTXs. In my current case, an Antec PP 660, the power connectors for the video cards touch the drive cables from the hard drives. The Titan is about 4.5 inches deeper and should alleviate that. I went with the titan because I've always like Antec cases and I wanted a steel case. The LL V1000Plus was a close second, but the Antec won out because I could use the powersupply for another system and it was steel.
 
big case, lots of room, easy to swap out stuff and grow...2 big fans 120 mm and 2 92 mm 1 by hard drives up top for easy cooling and 1 up top for heat dissapation.
customizable drive bays mines stuffed full 7 hard drives. 4 dvd, 1 sound card bay device and 1 floppy/media reader. good cooling and quiet...upgradeable w/out case modding to water cooling.
 
Everyone has heard about my experiences with CoolerMaster, and my ensuing dislike for them. But, I have to recommend the Stacker. It has a shitload of space, and it can serve every purpose you need. The tool-less removal of pretty much anything wouyld seal the deal, and if you wanted, you could put one of the 4-in-3 units sideways mounted to the bottom. It also allows for some MASSIVE cooling options, and it is overall a fantastic case. My only real complaint was the 2 80mm fans that it came with (since modded to 120's both top and side with space on top for 2 more if I so desired). I'm running my "server" in that case due to the available space for storage.

Great case, quiet, well designed, I love mine.

EXCEPT for the fact that there's no room.

FORGET about the P180 in regards to the OP. In fact, I'm about to order a CM Stacker 810 (can't find a 830, is that new?) to use as my main "try it before you watercool it" case and retire my P180 to server purposes.
 
I love the CM stacker, its huge, well vented, comes with a 4in3 HDD cage with its own fan (makes a huge diff) and comes with wheels so you can roll that thing around for working on it!!!

You're kidding right? v1XXX are mid but V2XXX are full and have LOTS of space.
 
Great opinions guys. Ive narrowed it down to the stacker as the reigning favorite, with the armor a close second. Putting up a WTB thread in fs/ft now see if i can get any decent deals :). And yeah, about that lian li, the 2000 is rediculously big now that i look into it, however, its also rediculously exspensive :).

You wouldn't be Majin Legacy from PotD, would you?

I would also like to vote one for the P180 (in adition to the SS TJ-06). It's not big, but makes excellent use of what space it has and looks good to boot.
 
I use the Thermaltake Armor. My only complaint about it is that the hard drives arent sideways..... its a pain in the ass getting that hard drive cage out with a 7800GTX card in there. I have to take the video card out usually...

I have two 120mm fans in the front, and one in the back. Also theres a 90mm fan on the top, and one above the back 120mm. Its got pretty good airflow, just the hard drive cage is a pain.

recklessly big in my opinion. . .and its more wide and deep evenly then it is big. Biggest space hog in my opinion, but better off with one of the cases mentioned previously, the stacker series and armor are good, the v2000 is good for the money (if you got it), silverstone is the sleeper if you choose to go with a less known brand (but still great). Plenty of options, and of course you can still go with one of mountain mods acrylic nightmares if you choose, but i would advise against it, although i can see myself using a case like that for an air conditioner for my room. :cool:

2ft X 2ft 7 external bay and 12 3.5 internal bays is a lil small thats all i can say to this comment

May I recommend YY-0221? Its cubish case with plenty of room. Also case is cool because it keeps mobo on one side and other stuff on the other. So when you put window, it looks really clean. Very sturdy case. Here is my YY-0221 modded.

The Yeong Yang looks very interesting, i was looking a cube case at first, but all i coud find were the mountain mods ones which were way outta my price range. This one isnt, ill definately look into it.

As for the the lian-li v2000 :), i rebuked by previous small statement earlier and i do so again now. Its freakishly huge, which is great.
