Looking For a Basic Case

I'm looking for a basic ATX tower case that is well constructed and cools well. The guts of the rig are in my sig, and I don't anticipate the rig getting much bigger, just swapping parts out for better parts. I may add a second hard drive later, but other than that all of the mounting and space requirements are already apparent. I already have a big Antec 550 watt PSU. I'm looking for a simple case preferably without a front door, without a lot of LEDs, and fans that aren't too too loud.

Can anyone help me out? I'd like to keep costs under $100.

I've looked at the Antec P180, and Lian Li PC-7B plus II and they seem to be along the lines of what I'm looking for. Are these good choices? Is there anything less expensive out there. I'm always willing to spend less money.

Thanks,

well the antec 3000b is a pretty nice case overall. It's not much money, offers nice cooling. and is easy to work in.

I'd say go with that.

That case looks nice. The only problems might be cleaning that front fan (I have one in my current case in the same position and I can't get the dust off of it), and the front door. It's definitely a contender, especially if there is a way to get to that fan though.

Thanks,

i've worked in about 4 of them now. Sold 20+ at work. The front fan is easy to access, to clean, and IIRC there is a filter that slides out.

for about $40 you can't go wrong

That Cooler Master looks very good. Does is cool well? I don't exactly have a hot running rig, but it does seem a little short on fans.

I would go with the lian li personally, the quality is simply unparalleled. It is the best choice in your range. There are cases with more features than the lian li for less than $100 but the thing is you loose the quality and that is the part that will make your build more satisfying.

I would love to have the Lian Li, but it would be hard to justify spending the money when the Cooler Master is only $50.

Are the fans easy to replace? The SPCR review said the front fan was really loud, would it be easy to swap it out for an 80mm Panaflo. I'd probably do the samewith the 120 in the back too. That would make for a cool quiet case.

umm...the fans are very easy to replace and the stock fans are actually. pretty quiet. I replaced the stock ones with led fans, but put the stock ones in my file server. They work good and I get really good airflow in my case. I do have a Centurion 5, but mine has blue trim on the front and has a side panel window.

Cool, I think I'll get the one without the window that has the side air duct though. The duct should fit nicely above an XP-90 with a panaflo. This is shaping up to be a great, quiet case.
