I have a slk800 I want to use on a 2.4c, I have 2x512 kingston pc4000. I don't require onboard sound or ethernet. I just want a bang for buck setup. Newegg has the retail 2.4c but I want something cheaper without the retail heatsink. Are all 2.4 800fsb chips 2.4c's?

Thanks for the help in advance.

true, c=800 fsb

for $5 more, might as well get retail w/ hsf and 3 year warranty.
saw a Soltek i865PE mobo for like $56 at newegg

btw, i have a 2.4c 800fsb @ 3.0ghz stock voltage, retail w/ 3 year warranty for sale if ur interested

that's not going to be warrantied anymore:D

get a 2.4A if you don't need HT. they're much cheaper and seem to overclock better

get an oem 2.4c with an abit ic7 series.

Where to get oem, newegg is all that I ever deal with. Know of a good place that has the oem processor and the board at a good price?
Should I try for a certain stepping?

mines a sl6z3 i believe, and its an m0. m0's are based on the p4ee and are said to overclock better. i bought a ic7-g refurbished from newegg for 89$.
