Well, I really do like my onboard sound, but it doesn't work well with GTA:SA and it drives me insane. The voices are off by about 10 seconds so they don't match with the video, and I have to lower the audio acceleration to none just to avoid my computer freezing up. So, I have been on the search for a good audio card. I have narrowed it down to two and would like some input.

I have narrowed my choices down to-

Turtle Beach CATALINA 8 (7.1) Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card

The creative is 10 dollars cheaper after the MIR, but the Turtle Beach doesn't have Creative drivers.

What do you guys think?

Good luck fitting those in an AGP slot. :)

Seriously, if gaming is the priority, then go with Creative.
 
lol whoops, edited that.

It's not JUST for gaming, I do plan to use it for other things as well, it's just that gaming is my problem at the moment lol.
 
look for a turtle beach santa cruz. and yes, you can go wrong with creative. ;)
 
If your problem is gaming than Creative should solve this, don't be expecting the best quality with your music though. Depending on what kind of speakers/headphones you use you may or may not notice a difference.

While i have the card and like it, he may not want something that hasn't had a driver update since mid-03.

Imho the santa cruz has begun to show its age, i couldn't get it to work correctly with the last three games i bought, and i'm a patient guy.

Installed an audigy two and voila! instant fix, games even sound better, music i'm not so sure ;)
