ohh thats pretty cool. i could have sworn i saw somewhere on the website where it said you can choose the color of the "XPS" on the laptop...

Hostile, I have also been looking at the newer laptops. I have to say that the sager 5720 is looking really good right now. I have heard that they are going to be coming out with a new version of it in April though, so I'm going to wait and see what the specs are.

The 9000 series seem to be a larger size and maybe not as nice for portability. Oh, and forget about any meaningful battery life with a gaming laptop. They just use too much juice to have a battery last more than 2 hours. I always get an extra AC adapter so I can keep one with me and leave one at home.

I have only owned Dell laptops. The latest one I have is a 9100 with the 256mb 9800 in it. It is a true desktop replacement as it uses a desktop cpu. Man, that thing pumps out some heat during gaming. But it certainly has no problem playing the games. I jumped the gun at the time because of the graphics card in it, not realizing how big the laptop really was. Compared to my old 8500, it was huge, and heavy. (15+pounds, not including the power brick)

But anyway, I've looked at Alienware, VoodooPC, and Falcon. I don't see anything other than a paint job that makes their laptops any better than Sager or Dell. Sure, there are a lot of little things that might be different, but those are more for personal preference. The core of the laptop are usually very similiar, if not the same. But, if you've got the scratch to spend on them though, go for it. They certainly are purdy! ;)

thats what i was looking for. thanks. thats cool how u can change the color from the laptop itself. thought you had to change the color bulb or something.

No problem.

I am tempted to replace my current desktop (in sig) with a XPS M170. :D

I'm thinking about a gaming laptop from CyberPower: AMD X2 4200+, 7800gtx, 2GB Ram, 17 inch widescreen. Any red flags with this set up? Thanks.

No - they are great laptops. I have the intel version of that laptop (bought through powernotebooks - 9880 - see sig) and I absolutely love it! Not an issue if you buy it now - but I wish I would have gotten the glossy screen (it was not available when I ordered it).

Let us know if you pick it up.

Thanks Nomad...I'll be looking to order in a couple of weeks. Maybe the 7900 will be out.

is the new 7900 suppose to be faster than the 7800 gtx go?

yes, I saw a comparison chart on notebookforums.com....but can't find it now becuase their search feature doesn't work :(

Basically, the 7900go was between the 7800go and the 7800gtx, and the 7900gtx was a little faster than the 7800gtx. I'll keep trying to find it. I think it was burried pretty deep in a thread.

Is this the chart you are talking about?

Dell M90?
What is the 7800 go GTX like compared to the NVIDIA® Quadro FX 2500M, 512MB (dedicated)?
