I need a good quality digital cam. With a good close up res and some outside pics. Pics will be resized to no bigger than 800x600 for webpage use.

mainly be used for taking pics of hardware(indoor) and outside of buildings...

thanks,

Does it have to be very compact? If not, I would recommend the Canon Powershot A1000 IS camera. It is a overall good camera for under $200 with 4x optical zoom uses standard 2 x AA batteries as opposed to proprietary batteries in the smaller Canon Elph series cameras. Pretty good number of shots also when used with NiMh batteries. Up to 450 shots.

Just got the SD1100IS for me and the wifey and love it. Quick, small and was fairly inexpensive. Perfect for her and taking with her to work (she is a hairstylist) but still had a decent enough zoom and good enough sensor that it could take low noise pictures when needed. Also picked up to NB-4L replacement batteries for it from Sterlingtek for $25 which is awesome.

SD1100 IS is probably your best bet for the camera under $200. you can pick it up for $160 + shipping from B&H. good luck.
